I have noticed there seem to be a lot of people who think they know what Scientology is, but they seem to miss the mark.
I have like several others in Yahoo Q&A read about, understood and applied Scientology to my life.

I have not read primary material from the COS, I have also not applied any of it to my life. I should also note, I'm not interested in either reading any material, or applying it to my life. Probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but it is an honest one.
You mention that people 'think they know what Scientology is, but they seem to miss the mark'. Well you are certainly right about that, but I also think you are missing the mark too. Most of the people you are referring to, I assume are critics of Scientology.
My belief is that critics of Scientology exist primarily because of "dead agenting". Ironic, isn't it?

You know , Scientology wouldn't be bad if it was a philosophy and not a religion . I mean that , most people think the opposite . But anybody who believes in the origins of this are nuts .. You don't have to worship anything , true . But you must except these alien origins as cannon to the beliefs . If it was just a self healing system , It wouldn't be bad . And this non sense about thetens and their pseudo/quasi science . Atheists have to laugh at that too .

Yes, the techniques can indeed improve one's life. However, do please make the distinction between "Scientology" (the philosophy, as written by L. Ron Hubbard) and "The Scientology Religion" ------ which is what the Church of Scientology preaches and practices. And that church does NOT always follow the L. Ron Hubbard philosophy precisely. They use a made-up version of their own.
