I really dont think they grasp the concept (not all).
Atheism means that you dont believe in a God theres no heaven theres no hell its not a cult its not a religion it is just being logical. It doesnt make you a bad person , infact somewhat the opposite. Most none belivers want to make people happy and be "good" because we want to, not because of the fear of gods wrath and being sent to hell. Most do not brainwah with radical ideas. We have logic and understanding of the world around us and yes we do demand proof .Im sure that when most non believers have kids if the child decides they want to believe (in what they choose for themselves) then as long as they are happy then they well be happy. This is contray to most christians and other religions. It should be up to the kids when they grow up indoctration is unfair and well cruel...well I have gone off on another tangent.. What do you think??

I find it hard to swallow this justification for our presense in Iraq:

"We're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here."

Of course I dread to see violence in my home country. But is it fair to take violence to a land of people that would not have otherwise been involved with a conflict?

I'm putting the motivation for the war and it's outcome aside, I just find this particular explanation of the conflict to be revolting and shameful. We must have better reasons that that.

How do R&Sers view this issue, focusing on my main question: Is it immoral to make another country your battle arena?

Ive just read a question from someone - here is the link.

http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsrqoxZcnXCseOp2hOY2y2NFLxV.?qid=20070603125113AAymzqy

And some things people said didnt add up. Im just looking at it logically.

If mohammed was this bad person this person claims he was - then why is it the second biggest religion after christianity - and why do more and more people convert to it. I mean, for example, i look into the current state of Africa and it wasnt islam that enslaved them or messed up their land - it was christianity. The current state in the middle east has been caused by christianity for no gain whatsoever except that people like you and me can drive our cars to work tomorow morning. I have read stories of soldiers in the newspapers raping civilians etc. This is not what christinaity is about and if jesus was here - he'd truly be ashamed of what has happened especially now that george bush is a re-born christian. What has happened to christianity

Just wondering why the scientific field has never seen another species evolve?
wouldn't this be wonderful hard evidence that in fact evolution is 100% true fact ?
it would prove it, and no longer would it have to be called the "evolution theory" but the "evolution fact"
now some may say you have to be open minded and and not be so igonorant and overlook some facts or issues , but would that fall under "faith"?
so why have we never seen any kind of species transform from one species to another (preferably to human) again?

searching for something to give their lives a boost. Few people seem content within themselves. A strange and often hard-to-identify inner vacuum gives most people an uneasy sense of incompleteness. Christ fills that vacuum!

As Jesus' person is fully divine, so we, united by faith to Jesus, feel personal fulfillment in Him.

Do you know Him? -

Non-Christians seem to think that Christians are too narrow-minded. They also say that there is no way that the Bible is entirely true, that Jesus couldn't have risen from the dead, that God couldn't have made the earth in 7 days. Now isn't that being narrow-minded?

In Colossians 2:8-9 we read; Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

For in him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Matthew 28:18 we read; And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, "All" power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

With all the events taking place in the world, we hear the word God being mentioned throughout our news media.

However, with the combinding of just these two verses doesnt it tell us the Jesus is running the show now?

In the U.S. we have had laws changed over the course of time. Prohibition being one, and that Slavery was outlawed in the 19th century. In other words, certain circumstances changed what laws need to be followed.

The same is true for the Bible. When Christ came, the old testament law was changed as we are now under the law of grace, rather than following the Mosaic laws for the sake of following the laws.

To state that we pick and choose which verses to follow and not to consider that certain verses were written prior to Christ's death and resurrection means that you do not understand the concept that events can shape which laws and verses apply to today.

As critics of the Bible, have you considered this factor of time and circumstances shaping our beliefs.

Or do you say that the US laws are irrelevant because we once allowed slavery and then later abolished it?

Late night, feeling blue because yesterday the people who do these things came to take away my old tom cat, which I loved, I read, online, the Sermon on the Mount, one of this nonbeliever's favorites in the King James Version of the Bible. I am a man who knows himself pretty darn well, and it amuses me to think that I also know a thing or two about the broad spectrum of the human species--and, dear hearts and bold chaps, I'm thinking that some of you who contribute to this site really ought to take the Beatitudes to heart. Jesus is lacking in more than a few of the posts by self-proclaimed Christians here, don't you think? Also, the writing is beautiful and alone worth your time.

I occasionally attend Catholic church and like the basic beliefs behind the religion. But I don't like all of the old and seemingly outdated rituals that go along with it. Is there a "new" or reformed Catholic religion? I really like how Catholic church is more somber and a time to quietly reflect, rather than loud and exciting like a lot of modern churches.

does anyone here find it suspect that manytelevangilists expect you to give 10% of your income to them in the name of "God's works"? why so much? why do they give the answer that "god will provide" when theres a possibilty that whatever happens to you as a result is pure dumb luck? I see evangelists walking around in custom suits, driving expensive cars and living in mansions and it makes me sick! you want to know where the majority of your 10 % goes? look at these bastards! aren't the "treasures in heaven", not on earth? how does someone like this moralize and regurgitate these lines to someone when they are wearing a rolex and gucci? how can they take advantage of those who are truly desperate, look them in the eye and say these things?
