Modern day dogs evolved from the wolf, that's true. How do you know that G-d didn't set evolution into motion, so that what your pastor said also applies?

I would be doubtful that an pastor said any such thing. Woman was created by God for man's companionship. The Bible doesn't give the dog that much status. This sounds more like a story you made up for the benefit of the religion haters.

Looks like someone just got "caught" in a lie. Shameful. Whatever has happened to your moral compass?

As a Christian, I firmly believe that it's just Christian folklore similar to the tale of the forbidden fruit getting stuck in Adam's throat creating the adam's apple we know today. It's a nice story, but that's all.

I'm sure God meant for dogs to adapt and evolve in different environments so that men can domesticate them for a wide variety of purposes essential to our survival.

On a side note, some wolves have been domesticated by people who know what they're doing which shows that they too, can be human companions.

I'm sure your pastor didn't lie - he just said something that's part of Christian tradition but not part of pure Christianity.

dogs and wolves are from the same species... why couldn't god have created the canine species, and then over the years it evolved into the many different breeds you see today.

But... I don't know of anywhere in the bible where it says dogs were created for companionship... I think god actually created females for male companionship...

The beginnings of man's friendship with dog has been lost in our prehistoric past. The idea of evolution is a separate issue altogether. To say that evolution "science" is weak to give it to much respect. It is unproven theory a theory that doesn't fit in with other verifiable sciences. Sciences that show an ice age many believe started when earth was hit by a huge asteroid. They say that this strike killed all but small early mammals that in less than a few hundreds thousand years became the giants of that era. It is odd that in fewer generations than existed in that ice age era viruses and bacteria have never changed from their simple forms.. Why not? No, evolution is not science fact, it is science fiction... Jim

Perhaps both are correct. Perhaps God DID create a breed or two (or many) of dogs that were meant to be domesticated. Perhaps, as well, the wolves that He created sometimes mated with some dogs, producing different half-breeds. The Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky are two that I can think of right away that may have been formed in that manner.

I don't know what the creationist story is but the evolutionist story which can be proven is that dogs evolved from wolves. As far as your pastor lying like that you may want to have an intelligent design conversation with him. I will get back to my NG magazine now.

Your pastor didnt lie, they are evolved from wolves, but pastors believe that everything was creathed by god for a reason.

Your pastor has a particular point of view that leads him to assume everything has to do with God. God, if God exists, does not appear to be all that interested in life here on earth, however.

I suspect that the domestic dog species and the wild wolf species(pl) shared a common ancestor. The former did not evolve from the latter.
