A good friend of mine went into a house or worship one day and saw people actually selling things there. He became very angry. He turned over table through their merchandise out of the building. I believe He was totally right is this action and try to pattern my ways around Him on this action and for that matter in all His ways..... Jim

The best answer I have ever come across to this question (which I ask myself quite often [in the Christian realm, I will be referring]) was somewhat answered/asked by Paul in his letter to the Romans (7:14-25). He seems to sort of "space out" for a moment in this particular passage; he suddenly switches from speaking to the Romans, to talking with himself. This passage is often referred to as the "Inner Conflict". Maybe Paul just flips out for a minute.
Anyway, I won't go into writing the whole freaking thing for ya, just the part that seems to allude to the question posed.
Vs. 15 - For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.
Vs. 19 - For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.
Basically, Paul blames it on the "sin of the flesh". I'm not saying I buy into all that, but his confusion may explain why someChristians often act in a paradoxical manner from that which was taught by Jesus (of course, most Christians should consider themselves followers of Paul and not Jesus, since forgiveness and love don't seem to run too rampant throughout the "community of Christ").
Well, that's about all I have to say about that. Your question is a good one. I am afraid that there may never truly be an adequate answer (one that would put us all at ease anyway).
p.s. I've wanted to believe in the general "good nature" of the population of humans, but it seems that blundering ignorance is on the rise. If only we could convince people to speak less, listen more, think and read, then (and maybe only then) will this world ever be a place of tolerance.
p.p.s. Not sure if you'd be interested, but the etymology of the word "religion" is in such uncertainty that that in and of itself may explain why there is so much confusion among "religious" peoples. It may mean to re-read (practice) or it might mean re-connect (to love or compassion) or it may even lend derivation to re-gather (to commune, hence learn peace and maye even become adventurous). Just thought I'd throw this stuff in too.

It is a good question, but you really need to learn to spell. Since I do not subscribe to any religion I can't really give you an answer. Tolerance and compassion are things that everyone should practice. Unfortunately too many people are narrow minded and only practice things that benefit themselves.

You seem to be ignorantly lumping all religious people into one small box. There are many people who are religious who practice, love compassion, peace and tolerance....and I'm sure there are some that are adventurous, but I'm not sure what they have to do with the other two.
Of course, I'm not saying there aren't religous people who don't practice any of those things, but they are not usually religous, they just pretend to be.

It may be related to the reason that, despite universal childhood education, some people can't manage to write basic English sentences.

of course many religious people do practice these important values, mainly because they're humane. as for your q- it's largely because religion is corrupted, it's all a game of power and politics.

Jesus asked the same thing of the Pharisees.
(Quite a comparison!)
Ahhh, the pitfalls of Phariseism.
