I occasionally attend Catholic church and like the basic beliefs behind the religion. But I don't like all of the old and seemingly outdated rituals that go along with it. Is there a "new" or reformed Catholic religion? I really like how Catholic church is more somber and a time to quietly reflect, rather than loud and exciting like a lot of modern churches.

himiangaa, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with exciting. I just appreciate a church service that lets me reflect on my own spirituality at a more individual level.

Try an Episcopal Church. ... aka Anglican, depending on your area.

Yes, Catholic rituals are old, but that is not a bad thing.
The fact something is "old" does not automatically mean it is "outdated". The fact something is new does not guarantee it is going to be better than it's older counterpart.
The Catholic Church is all about worshiping a timeless God. God is timeless, therefore His Church is timeless. It's rituals are timeless. So how can they be outdated when they are not subject to time?
The rituals of the Catholic Church continue to be developed and perfected with time, but they are not subjected to time.
You should give Catholic rituals another chance, keeping in mind that they are what they are because God wants them that way.
People are supposed to change, so that we better conform to the Ways fo the Church. The Church is not supposed to change to conform to us.

You should really find out what all the rituals mean. Everything that happens at Mass has a meaning. The Mass is scripture in action!
Learn about it, study it, know it.

i understand your concerns, im a roman catholic and was raised as such so i am most comfortable with it, but heres the rub: doesnt really matter if you believe all the rituals, i myself do not, i believe waht jesus says to me, its convenient for me to go to catholic mass cuz im comfortable with thier rules and knwo them, its easier then to learn new rituals, all taht matters is i love jesus, dotn let rhetoric and ritual scare you away from teh lord
