Q. What did the atheist say to the fundie?

A. Harry Potter!

I am an atheist, was a Christian, and I am considering my own death. Any suggestions on a funeral service. As atheism is not a belief system it lacks a ritual dude to say the nice words. I am looking for ideas. I wouldn't mind a New Orleans Jazz Band, but that isn't always available since you cannot pick where you die always. Likewise, it could be inconvenient in terms of structure.

I am looking for any good ideas, which of course rules out joining a religion. If anyone has thought this through and has plans of their own, I would like to know them.

Since coming to R&S have actually started questioning God in a good way? I mean like when you hear the gospel on here, and have actually "thought" about it, with all pride set aside....how many of you have turned a soft heart towards God?
In ALL honesty now! And even if nobody says they have....this does not prove that God does not work, but only shows how much more right Jesus was when saying the world would hate those who are saved, because they hated Him first--- and also shows how conviction stirs someone up- because deep down they know there has to be something right about the gospel....
yet they do not want to see it, because that would mean they would have to give up sin and submit to God. But how many of you have seen the goodness of God through hearing the gospel on here? Have understood His love? And what He did?

Isn't the only real conflict between science and religion seen in the fact that the multitude of scientists fail to comprehend the true depth of science, while the vast majority of religious people in the world fail to comprehend the true depth of their own religion?

And, for purely political reasons, isn't this prevailing junk-science taught to our children in schools, while spiritually disenfranchised dogma is preached to the people in the churches?

Aren't the truly enlightened people, the few who know that once the depth of both science and religion is revealed to the mind, that all Creation becomes One Unified Thought and Expression?

Ideas, Thoughts, Opinions...?

In the course of human history, many people have claimed answered prayers. If you filter out the ones that can be explained by normal means and/or coincidence, that still leaves a lot. And those prayers have been answered for people of all religions... and none. Have YOU had a prayer answered? If the only explanation for the resulting event is that who/whatever you prayed to actually intervened in the "normal" flow of events, how do we explain that? Let's see what's out there. Everybody...

I've always been brought up believing that a fundamental difference between science & religion was that you can question science but not religion. And to me, that was what made science fun!
Nowadays, that line has been blurred dramatically. Recent Supreme Court rulings on evolution (banning stupid book labels) & all the global warming radicals shouting down those who disagree with them.
Now I don't blame the actual scientists for this, but rather blame laymen who go into a defensive mode, much like a religious person will when their beliefs are challanged. This does appear to have the same effect as religion as debate & questioning is suppressed. Of course, no scientific theory has ever been successfully challenged so it's probably moot! -LOL
So where do you draw the line between when science crosses the line into religion?

...when they find themselves condemned of their sins?

They're not "familiar" enough with it to know what God said about it though.

The Old Testament law was given to a specific group of people, the Jews. God said to Moses, "...I have made a covenant with thee, and with Israel" (Exodus 34:27).
The Old Testament supplies much material for our learning.
It allows us to see God operate with mankind throughout history.
They don't UNDERSTAND....Did you notice that?

So many people are SO certain that God has "called" them to a particular ministry. Each one appears just as positive as the next, even though they disagree about so many things they say are essential to eternal life. How could God allow this? How could YOU be right and the other guy be wrong when you are both totally convinced?

conform to our beliefs or trying to pass laws that take away their rights. Are there any christians on this site that have ever had anything to do with these accusations or do most of you, such as myself, just live your lifes as exempary as you can? I honestly have not seen any questions or answers from obvious christians that appear to be forcing your beliefs on others. So do you think this is job a cop out and an easy answer atheists post rather than coming up with a truly intelligent answer?
