when i think of all the wars and all the killing that has been done in the name of god i realize how dangerous it is. since i see religion as being a threat to me and my family, am i allowed to shoot people who come on my property uninvited and want to spread the gospel?

Just because a person claims they are fighting a war in the name of God does not mean He sanctions it.
Those who come to spread the Gospel are not evil people, they wish to share what they consider good news to you. I personally do not do this, but to suggest killing someone just for wanting to share something with you is a terrible terrible statement to make.
