What makes you think atheists own science or for that matter the English language? For your information there is more than one theory of evolution and at times those who believe in it strongly disagree with each other. Hence theory. Is this the best argument some of yo guys/gals can offer? Can you read can you use a dictionary? This is just argumentative bursts of bigotry and if it was the Christians saying it you would be the first to recognize it. When they suggest these things it makes me wonder are these comments due to a lack of intelligent material to debate. If not why then not raise intelligent issues rather than trying to insult.

The scientific definition of theory is different than the typical usage. I'm not sure it would give the scientific definition in a normal dictionary.
Besides, the people who are insisting on saying "Just a theory" don't CARE what the correct definition is. The majority of them are aware of what the scientific definition of the word is, they just ignore it so they can keep twisting it to suit their purposes.

I am a Christian. I just looked up the word "theory.," 1. abstract thought. Synonyms: "Hypothesis, Conjecture." Then I looked up one of Jesus' favorite words, "verily," 1. "In very truth." Synonym: "Certainly." Which one sounds more solid to you?
