Circa 1051, St. Peter Damian penned The Book of Gomorrah, which attacked homosexuality in the clergy. Pope St. Leo IX's response was that if clergy had committed the sin of homosex, they should be restored to same rank if they gave penance. In other words, the sin is separate of the person who commits it. At this, the Greek Orthodox church separated from Rome.

Why does most of the Old Testament teach that there is no afterlife (see Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, for example), while later Old Testament writings and the New Testament do?

The Miracle of the Sun is an alleged miraculous event that was witnessed by possibly as many as 100,000 people on 13 October 1917 in the Cova da Iria fields near Fátima, Portugal[1].

According to many witness statements, after a downfall of rain, the clouds broke and the sun appeared as an opaque, spinning disk in the sky[10]. It was said to be significantly less bright than normal, and cast multicolored lights across the landscape, the shadows on the landscape, the people, and the surrounding clouds[10]. The sun was reported to have careened towards the earth in a zigzag pattern[10], frightening some of those present who thought it meant the end of the world[11]. Witnesses reported that the ground and their previously wet clothes became completely dry.

Now Atheist how do you explain this?

About six months ago, my older brother passed away. After that happened, I got depressed and very bitter at God. I got counseling for a few months afterwards, and I saw a lot of improvement. I'm ok with God now, and I was doing very well for a while....but lately, the depression has crept up on me again and is worse than ever. I feel so tired all the time...I never want to do anything anymore. It's even starting to affect my relationships with people. Whenever I'm around other people, I just want to run away and be alone. I hate feeling this way, and I would give anything to have my life back the way it was before. I'm getting desperate and was wondering if maybe antidepressant medication is right for me. From a Christian perspective, is it wrong to take medication for depression?

If the theory of evolution is true and all live developed from one source, then why didn't rabbits develop fangs instead of becoming a food source for those that do have fangs?

Mark 7: 9And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! 10For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.

God(the Spirt) has no form or shape, neither male or female or anything else. Those who believe the Spirit is a male probably also believe if they are good in this life, when they die they will get to go heaven and play their harpl (forever).
(Can you believe -- no lunch breaks!!)

According to theology there is a physical world where all living creatures have their being, and a meta-physical world where the non-living exist. Further, our deeds in this life greatly determine what level of the meta-physical (spiritual world) our spirit will transcend. Godly spirits transcend to heaven, and good people transcend to paradice, while dumb spirits walk around on earth trying to resolve things and take care of unfinished business, and the evil go to hell. My question is simply; where are heaven, paradise, and hell located?

Should someone's religious and/or personal beliefs interfere with the work they perform. Even if they took the job, knowing that they would be required to do something that was against their belief.

I asked believers, and non-believers, how they can be open-minded. Why did MOST, not all, Atheists avoid this question?
I am a non-theist.
Most people would catagorize me as an Agnostic.
Come on you Atheist wimps, I like to agitate people, just like you do.
Are you going to let the believers make you look spineless?
Can you give a mature, thoughtful, answer (like I'm one to talk!), like the believers did?
Believers are welcome for their input, too.

Here's the thing: I have completely different political views than Elisabeth...in fact, my views are very similar to Rosie. However, after watching The View today, I find myself on Elisabeth's side. I was glad she told Rosie off! I may think Liz's views are wrong....but I give her props for speakiong her mind, even though she knows people are gonna gang up on her. I'm tired of Rosie thinking that just because some people don't agree with her, they aren't allowed to voice their opinions. I consider myself to be pretty liberal, but I don't yell or get mad at people if they happen to have different views as I do.

From the Holy Quran, Sura 9

Verse 38-39

O you who believe! What is the matter with you, that when you are asked to march forth in the Cause of Allâh (i.e. Jihâd) you cling heavily to the earth? Are you pleased with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But little is the enjoyment of the life of this world as compared with the Hereafter. If you march not forth, He will punish you with a painful torment and will replace you by another people, and you cannot harm Him at all, and Allâh is Able to do all things.

Verse 44,

Those who believe in Allâh and the Last Day would not ask your leave to be exempted from fighting with their properties and their lives, and Allâh is the All-Knower of Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2).
