Thomas,
There is nothing any more special about 2012 then there was about 2000 or any other year. GOD will decide when the second coming of Christ is and that will be our Judgment. The end of mankind is the beginning of Heaven or Hell according to your works on earth. We are expected to become Christians and remain faithful until death.

To become a Christian, we are told that we must HEAR the WORD in John 6:45, Jesus said, “It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.” We are also told so in Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We are told the we must BELIEVE in Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We are also told so in Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” and in John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. We are told that we must REPENT (or turn from sin) in Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Also in Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST in Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We are also told in 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. We are to be BAPTIZED according to Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” and Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. We are to CONTINUE to be FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH according to Revelation 2:10c Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. We also know that Paul wrote in Romans 14:12 each of us shall give account of himself to God. It is important that we not ignore what is written, change what is written, or add to what is written in the New Testament. It is our Christian Guide. Have a great evening!
Thanks,
Eds

I'm not looking forward to the end of the world, so all this fascination with the year 2012 worries me a little. I even hear my extremely sound professors bring it up all the time, and its a well known belief that the Mayans had pegged 2012 as the date the world will end. Others believe that humankind will undergo some significant transformation. If you type "2012" into Wikipedia, every theory presented regarding this year comes up, and its some interesting stuff.

Thomas: As a Christian, the year 2012 means nothing to me. No one knows the day nor the hour of Christ's return to this earth - not Jesus even, except God the Father. I'll give you one thing though. "Life" is becoming "crazier" day by day. One word of advice - beware of "prediction addiction" - this has led many down the garden path to fanaticism ! Remember: Many are cold - but few are frozen !!! LOL !!!

I have heard for years that the world was coming to an end, some people would even be at a certain place and wait only to realize they were wrong. The world will come to an end in God's time, and no one knows that time, that's why the Bible says for us to be alert and be watching and to be ready. yes I agree with you life is getting crazier each and every day..But that one day or night will come, it will happen in the twinkle of an eye..

personally, I think that 2012 means nothing. But I also think the end of the world could be soon. The bible says that no one will know the time when Christ will return. Not even Christ himself! Only God knows that. So you guys can guess all you want but I don't think anyone will ever know when for sure.

2012 is supposedly the year that the Mayan calender says the world is going to end. The following links will help you better understand what is being presented:

Personally I don't spend a lot of time worrying about dates. Although It is becoming more and more obvious that the time is short.

I love the upbeat answers which you've already received! I think, though, that there is perhaps something in the Mayan calendar that seems to predict the "end of the world" since I have heard New Agers refer to that date as one of doom. Personally, during a more optimistic time period in my own life, I might regard it as the "dawning of the Age of Aquarius" at last! Hopefully, it will transpire as your answerers are envisioning rather than heralding the War of Armageddon in the Middle East if, in fact, that is not currently underway there in Iraq and Lebanon.

What? It means nothing--just the year after 2011 and before 2013. Remember the world was going to end with the "new millenium?" Well, we're all still here, aren't we?
