I have always been mystified by this. When I'm flipping through my cable channels, I often see a half-hour show, which I think is called 'The Holy Rosary of Sister Angela." I'm assuming this responsive chant is common in other Catholic religious places and ceremonies, but I just don't understand why it's done (I'm Protestant, non-denominational, but raised in a Baptist church). The same thin is repeated over and over. I haven't been patient enough to count and know if it's done a specified number of times. It sounds so expressionless, and I would think that after a while one would get really tired of doing it and begin to tune out and go on auto-pilot, or fall asleep. Is this a command in the Bible that they do this? If not, what is the origin of it? Why is this done rather than just talking or praying to God in a heart-felt prayer?

I would say personally it is intolerance, hatred, bigotry, and bitterness. Your thoughts please?

I think the Bible says if you have sex with someone you are married in the eyes of God. If they never had a ceremony, well, did Adam and Eve have a ceremony? Was Eve Adam's wife? There ya go!

If "heaven" is suppose to be so great, wouldn't it make sense to just commit suicide before you get old enough to commit any sins?

I personally believe that the "concept" of heaven and hell are a matter of mind and a state of being, not a physical place one goes to after death. I could be wrong, but until that time, I'm already in heaven.

Let my life be a dance
Gently through the edges of time
Bowing and bending
To that which is Sublime.
Lightly stepping only
Gently to the beat.
Feeling only and knowing.
All will be complete.

I recently read a question where someone asked about "proof" of their religious beliefs.. and it got me thinking.. Everyone believes what they do for a particular reason. Some people it's simple, childlike faith... others it is a strong knowledge of something.. etc etc.

I'm curious... What belief system do you have? (example, Christian, Muslim, Atheist, etc) .. and why?

I'm not trying to ask this to cause fights or anything.. I am just curious what brings certain people to believe certain things.

I myself am a Christian. I believe in it because when I was told about it, I had a deep push on my heart that made me feel it was right. I gave my life to God and immediately felt him comfort me. I have faith that he is there and loves me. My belief system is based on faith and what I have felt.

Does the truth shine in the answer or in the question or both or neither?

2007-05-08 06:37:15 · 40 answers · asked by Anonymous

Or Magic, or even Pokemon? Some people get completely wrapped up in that world. People actually gather to share their similar interest and continue the storyline. They have books and necklaces and symbols for it all. They treat people who aren't interested like they don't matter. The similarities are uncanny, really.

What do you think? Other similarities?

Why cant some christians accept homosexuals for who they are?

Could it possably be that theyve been secretly attracted but are guilty of it and take it out on homosexuals?

For those of you who believe both bestiality and homosexuality to be a sin, if a man were to have sex with a female goat, he'd be committing bestiality, but if he were to have sex with a male goat, would he be committing both bestiality AND homosexuality?

Who is your shepherd? Is your God personal your friend as a Shepherd to his sheep? or do you just have religion or non religion?

Have you ever come to personally know your Shepherd?

in John 10 the Bible it says "The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep." would your God sacrifice his life for you?
this is said and goes on to quote Jesus= verse 10 and following

Jesus the Messiah says "My sheep hear my voice and follow me." "I have come that you might have life and more abundantly."

Whats your belief on the first two human characters of the bible?

Im especially interested in a prophetic interpretation, as its not realistic to assume there was a historian there and more likely God spoke to the writer in a vision much like in revelation.
