The person is ALWAAYS acceptable, but the overt practice of any sin is not. If a person does not want to be judged by their sexual practices, straight or gay (or whatever?)then they should keep them private, as they should be. That way, only God is the judge.

Its very clearly shown in Liviticus that sleeping with another man as you would a woman is punishable by death and christians do accept slavery, and child beating, and women as property. That these rules were applied to a time when lust was the norm escapes most Christians. Since the advent of Jesus, the new covenant or agreement, the rules of man replacing God no longer apply for Jesus sets the norm. However, because the anti-christ (Paul) leads most Christian thought with the 'we see sin and it cannot be ours' mindset, Gods love takes the backseat as foretold.
To most, both men and women, a homosexual is an easy target to be used and discarded with no blame on the user, not because they hemselves are secretly gay but because nature rules their thinking process, not Gods love. In nature the male is king is he not?

How about when people say "only God can judge you." I think I prefer that one- although it still assumes superiority in the eyes of God. But at least this comment means that people take resposibility for their own spiritual lives and beliefs and not pass judgement on the lives of others.
But Jesus really had some good advice for living life. It is really a shame that many people don't follow his ideas of kindness and non-judgement. Loving thy neighbor... Jesus even accepted a woman who was a whore into his close circle of confidantes and supported and protected her from other's judgement.
I don't think that people have to secretly be attracted to the same sex to be afraid of homosexuality, although, sometimes this holds true. More often, I think that it is fear of something different- something they don't understand that makes them scared and mean-spirited- or just judgemental.

Let us say that you are on a raft, having a great old time, as you go down a river. But, I am on the river side and I see that you are headed towards a deadly water fall, which ughhhhh.. you do not see!
I think to myself, should I ruin your good time? Do I have any obligation to tell you the bad news?
You could respond in disbelief and accuse me of wanting to take your raft for myself or that I only want to ruin your good time.
However that is not going to stop me, our of love, and out of concern to beseech you to change direction before it's to late.

you asked:
"Why cant some christians accept homosexuals for who they are?"
The reason is that we do not excuse behavior that is clearly scandalous sin, condemned by God. I have had friends which were homosexuals, however it would be wrong of me to pretend something is acceptable by God when it is not. It would be unloving and a lie for me to turn a blind eye to their plight and pretend everything is all right.

They that call themselves christians should not be attacking homosexuals nor anyone else. We are to hate the sin but love the sinner. Why, because people can change and do change. We have all sinned and falled short of the glory of God. Christians are to hate all sins, not just the sin of homosexuals. Except for by the grace of God there goes I.

Yes, in several ways. I expect people to put me in check when I am out of line and I do unto others the same. I also give forgiveness as well as expect it back. I want limits placed on me for respect and I give the same back

I wish I knew. The intolerance is usually more prevalent among "conservative" Christians, but I couldn't fathom how they justify it. After all, if you pointed to the bible and said homosexuality is a sin, then you'd also have to accept slavery and the potential you might sacrifice your own children.

Romans 1
24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

i accept them! i don't agree with their lifestyle but i do know that they have the right to live the way they want to, and i wouldn't go up to someone who was a homosexual, point a finger in their face and say..."you're wrong!"...because that's rude.

They can't accept it because for them it is a sin. Come to think of it, isn't it curious that Christians can kill, slander, and do all kinds of "evil" and none of that is a sin for them?
