hospital, he was already hallucinatory from the effects of the cancer treatment. Therefore he was not in the right condition to accept christ before he died. I prayed intently for years for him to be saved but it didn't happen. I've lost my faith and stopped going to church because of this. He was the kindest, loving and most generous man I've ever known and to think that he's not in heaven kills me inside. I'm never the same after his death and I'm still hating God for it.

This is one of the findings that keep me from locating a good Bible following church at this time. I hope that I get more than, it doesn't matter, just go.

I pulled this from “The Jewish Bible” Tanaka, The Holy Scriptures according to the Traditional Hebrew Text.

Genesis 1:1-When God began to create heaven and earth
2-the earth being unformed and void, with darkness over the surface of the deep and a wind from God sweeping over the water

Here is my confusion… If God created the Plant we call Earth, then how can there be water on something that did not exist before it was created?

Please No Bashing,
Thank you

Peace & Love
Sam

If your answer is No, then such an almighty entity does not exist.
Any convincing answer to my question will be much appreciated.

if jesus did preach from the bible, does it mean that he carried luke, john, matthew etc with him and read from them?

it seems weird becos they are his deciples and they wrote the bible.

what is that? luke's, john's etc bible?

bible according to them?

why didnt jesus write the bible? so that there can be a bible saying "bible according to jesus" not luke john etc.

The early church was unified under a singular belief, just as today's Atheists are. The early church believed and was held together by the idea that Jesus is Lord. Today's Atheists are a tight and cohesive unit because they all share the same simple belief, there is no God. In the early church you were welcomed and accepted if you believed Jesus is Lord. An Atheist today is well regarded and accepted if he or she simply believes there is no God.

Christians are getting their collective butts kicked all over the globe by Atheists and all we can do is utter a few pitiful words about how "persecuted" we are and how not fair this all is.

What if some clever Christian went undercover as an enlighten Atheist, compiled a book of secular science and philosophy that was large enough to contain multiple interpretations? Would that level the playing field in 2000 years?

Don't get mad at me, just answer the question. Meanwhile you might consider if we were better off before the book.

If god is the creator...of all things heaven and earth...all knowing and all seeing...he knows all the hairs on our head...knows our thoughts before we have them and the numbers of our days...ok..all that and more. Why would it seem that God has succomed to the most base and childish of human emotions. Those of jealousy and anger...wrath and hatered. It would seem to me that God would be above that...even Jesus (I know..who was god and man at the same time...a tad confusing to ponder to much) instructed us to rid ourselves of those attributes. To love our enemies as ourselves. To turn the other cheek. Those are Jesus's (God's) instructions. Why would it be hard for him to do that then? Would it prove that in fact God is falible? That he can and did make mistakes?

Ok...saying that I am assuming that God is not some multi racial being with two genders. I am assuming it goes far deeper than that. Why then if we in his image do we fail so? Jesus tells us to move mountains, but I am pretty sure that will not happen...and even with the faith of a mustard seed. We are to do things greater than he, but I haven't seen anyone walking on water. Does this mean that all of us...even those who are the most die hard believers have such a little faith? Not even that of a mustard seed?

Do you find it crazy that 3,000 plus babies are murdered every day and nothing is said but, for example, not to discredit the media coverage of the VT massacre, 33 people are murdered and it is all over the news? Again, I'm not trying to discredit the fact that the VT massacre is getting news coverage, I'm just using it as an example to make a point. Go ahead all of you pro-choice people, throw in your two-cents about how "it's a woman's right" and "it's not a baby yet" because, despite the fact that this question is referenced towards Pro-life people, at least one of you feel the urge to comment.

The press reports are misleading. Please do your homework and learn Catholic doctrine before giving an opinion about it.

There is a debate going back a long way in many religions: If God is all-powerful and all-good, why is there evil in the world?

Belief in God seems to be a precursor for belief in the inherent goodness of the world, so it's important to resolve this conflict. How can the WORLD be good when it contains evil?

I wonder how anyone can resolve this conflict without belief in an all-good and all-powerful God. It seems that the world can only be an enemy if one doesn't believe that an all-good and all-powerful God created it.

However, I believe that nature follows NATURAL LAWS and can only be good. How can anyone argue with the rain and the sunset? It simply is--it is good by its nature of being.

What I cannot accept is man's inhumanity against man. I cannot accept deliberate evil (free will). Nor can I accept indeliberate evil (ignorance).

Why do people do evil, and how can we accept that as a non-negotiable fact of reality? How can we recognize the evil persons as innocents?

But then, spoke to man through Jesus?
And we, today can know Him through His Word preserved for us in the scriptures.
(To him who has an ear, let him hear)

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;"
Hebrews 1:1-3

Do THAT many people have problems with reading comprehension? None of the news articles contain a quote from the document stating that. On the contrary, the document states, "The conclusion of this study is that there are theological and liturgical reasons to HOPE that infants who die without baptism MAY be saved and brought into eternal happiness even if there is not an explicit teaching on this question found in revelation." (emphasis mine)
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070420/ts_nm/pope_limbo_dc_2

If we can only HOPE that these infants MAY go to Heaven, the theological SPECULATION that there is a place outside of Heaven for them is still valid.

I'm 14 years old and my family is Christian. We don't go to church, and I've never read the whole bible, and though some people may think you cannot be Christian if you don't do those things, I believe you can. I've always been a very open minded person. I doubt there is a God sometimes. Other times I feel I believe in him just to feel safe. I know there are a lot of religions out there. And I think I'd really like to learn more about them and find one that better matches my beliefs. Does anyone know any good websites I could go to, to learn more about other religions? Is it ok to not have a religion? I know I'm young and maybe I shouldn't be thinking about this at my age, but it's something I'm interested in.
