Ok...saying that I am assuming that God is not some multi racial being with two genders. I am assuming it goes far deeper than that. Why then if we in his image do we fail so? Jesus tells us to move mountains, but I am pretty sure that will not happen...and even with the faith of a mustard seed. We are to do things greater than he, but I haven't seen anyone walking on water. Does this mean that all of us...even those who are the most die hard believers have such a little faith? Not even that of a mustard seed?

We are products of the physics, chemistry and biology on planet earth, and we have evolved into the beings we are today because of millions of years of environmental pressures.

What you are describing are fairly tale stories. They cannot be taken literally by any sane, intelligent person in the 21st century.

That's a good question but I really don't know. I guess I would ask have you ever tried walking on water? Because of our human minds and reasoning we probably wouldn't because we've already decided in our sub-conscience that it's impossible. Maybe Jesus was just confirming that. Maybe we need to practice walking on water believing in faith that it's possible.
But no moving mountains! Gets us all together moving mountains and we could really make a mess! lol Then again I wouldn't have to drive so far to ski so yes lets move mountains! haha

God originally created man in His image, that is: perfect, eternal, and in complete harmony with God. Man, of his own volition, chose to do something that would change his relationship with God and place him at odds with God's will. When this happened man became imperfect and no longer completely in God's image.
God has been trying ever since to try and return man completely to a perfect relationship with Him. This has been impossible as long as man has been responsible for forming a relationship with God. That is why God provided the perfect intermediary between Himself and man. He, Himself would become both man and God in the person of Jesus Christ, would lead a sinless life, die a death that would allow Him to assume the sins of all believers for all time, and therefore restore the perfection of humanity and man's relationship with God.
People are still being raised from the dead, being healed of fatal and crippling illnesses, and being restored to perfect communion with God...you just aren't going to hear about it on the evening news.
God isn't necessarily going to let anyone move an actual mountain but he allows people to move mountains everyday. Mountains caused by evil, ignorance, disease, injury, sin, grief, poverty, disbelief, anger, and jealousy.
There will come a day when man will be perfectly in God's image again and then we shall see Him "face to face." (I Corinthians 13:12)

Our human senses cannot detect whatever "greater" thing might exist. That's why humans have created God in their image. This image is so unsatisfying to me that it completely drives me away from all religion. It seems so arrogant that religions proclaim to have "God" defined - that they know God. This is psychotic. It creates an "us and them" mentality, causes war, hate and hostility. It is just so much yada yada mythology based on nothing.

What is wrong with "we just don't know" - just embrace the mystery. I think humans are very uncomfortable with not having answers, so we make up some answers, and that is exactly what religion is.

What we DO know is that we are all born, we live (life is difficult, hopefully we grow), and we die. We are all humans stuck on this rock floating in this immense, unknown universe.

I hope there is something greater than ourselves "out there". But let's focus on the things we know work - like love, compassion, caring, sharing and giving. Let's work on changing our narcissist ways and learning empathy. Focus on things that will help improve life for our kids and grand kids - the last thing they need is to be brainwashed by religion.

Let's get real!

Correct! The reason christians have no faith is because they have truth all mixed up with untruth and good all mixed up with evil. It all stems from the fact that christians do not get the message Jesus brought to us. That message is that the very same Spirit of truth that guided Him lives within us! If you want to know absolute truth and unconditional love then stop settleing for less. Grow a backbone and accept responsibility for what you believe. Look for confirmation from the Spirit of truth within you. The christian church has lied and covered up the truth so stop listening to them.

I asked myself the same question when my mother was dying from cancer. My family prayed with the knowledge of what you just wrote. Faith of a mustard seed. We seriously doubted our faith when she died. But we also prayed, Lord, Your will be done. We came to the conclusion that it was her time to go and it was God's will to take her. We knew others had been healed through my family's prayers. So that was the only answer. God gave us comfort and peace.

There are factors to consider when dealing with God. Such as; God's will. And if I did move a mountain, how many people would die?

We are made in God's image...He has given us ALL authority....We just don't always believe it...I met a group of seminary students in Nigeria who wanted to test and see what would happen if they said to a mountain "Be thou canst into the sea" They pointed at a nearby mountain and said for it to be cast into the sea and the very next day dump trucks came and started truck, by truck taking the mountain away...there is no mountain there now.

ok so what if we ARE crated in God's image -- and God is not perfect either.

Look at God in the Bible. Contradictory, angry, aloof, smug. Maybe God and us aren't so different after all. We create, we heal, we perform wonderous acts, we restore, we destroy.

Good question. Keep asking those good questions.
