So on Ash Wednesday I did not go to church with my parents and I was brought up a Catholic but i am Atheist, and since then my Dad has not spoken to me. I really dont think i did anything wrong because if i were to receive the ash i think id be really doing something wrong because id be lying. But just because im Atheist doesnt mean im an A-hole towards religion, I respect people who are religious it doesnt bug me so why does it bug my parents? I dont understand why they are trying to force me to be religious if i dont believe. Im not a bad guy ive always tried to be the best man that i can be and no im graduating from High school this year and im going to college, I dont do drugs or committ any sort of vandalism.

Seems like there is on the Word of God

God is so good,

Just pure, kind, gentle, loving,

Full of wisdom and understanding

One scripture says

''Wisdom Crieth In the Streets''

What do you think that means?

For starters.....

Science can only answer "how" questions. That is its' purpose. That is its' design. Religion answers "why" questions. That is its' purpose. That is its' design. The error in "mainstream" modern thought is the utilization of science to answer the "why" questions. It is utter foolishness to use science in this way. It was never intended to be used to replace religion. Science is a "tool" and nothing more. We must not worship the tools we use. People choose not to believe in God. Others choose not to believe in the Holocaust. Just because people choose not to believe in something that doesn't make it false.Neither does believing in something make it true. I can't sit here and try to sell you on religion. Religion does not require advertisement I'm not gonna tell you your wrong either. Yet we all know somebody is wrong. My religion prohibits me from telling you your wrong. The most I can say is we will all see who is right, very shortly.

When I think of missionaries, I think of Africa and Asia primarily, since those are the places I have personally most heard of in missionary stories.

Does anyone know of any statistics on what areas of the world the most Christian missionaries are sent to (or where the most missions are carried out)?

Links/sources would be appreciated. Thanks!

Zecharia Sitchin, along with Erich von Däniken and Immanuel Velikovsky, make up the holy trinity of pseudohistorians. Each begins with the assumption that ancient myths are not myths but historical and scientific texts. Sitchin's claim to fame is announcing that he alone correctly reads ancient Sumerian clay tablets. [Of course, he didn't announce this by taking out an ad in the New York Times but by implying it with his "translations" that do not jibe with the work of legitimate scholars in the field.] If Sitchin is right, then all other scholars have misread these tablets, which, according to Sitchin, reveal that gods from another planet (Niburu, which orbits our Sun every 3,600 years) arrived on Earth some 450,000 years ago and created humans by genetic engineering of female apes. Niburu orbits beyond Pluto and is heated from within by radioactive decay, according to Sitchin.

I have a paper due, over what I believe about Soteriology, or the study of salvation. The questions are drawn from a catechism. There are 24 total questions within this paper that I will answer. On executive decision, I chose to post each of these on Answers! but.... I am going to do them about once each day. They will be titled "Soteriology - Q # ______ . " I am going to poast the remaining bit of questions today. If you would like to answer all 24, search them through my name, and answer as many as you would like to. PLEASE BACK YOUR ANSWERS UP WITH REFERENCES TO SCRIPTURE, THOELOGICAL QUOTES, ETC. I want you to be as creative as possible, and I want as many people to participate as possible. Thank you for your participation! I do not want you to do my research. I want more opinions than just people I can find on my own. In a sense, think of it more as an interview.

To have free will one must have a choice.

To make a choice one must have sufficient information.

Therefore to have free will one must have sufficient information.

Here the definition of choice I’m using:
- the act of selecting from a number of possibilities

Now in order to select from the possibilities, the possibilities must be known.

Here are some examples:
A child puts his hand on a hot stove and doesn’t know that the stove is hot.
- The child didn’t make the choice to burn himself because he/she didn’t know the possibilities.

A child puts his hand on a hot stove to see how hot it is.
- The child does make the choice to burn himself because he has the information that the stove is hot.

A person goes to a party, and has to leave at ten. Unbeknownst to him/her, the door has been locked and he/she can't get out. Ten o'clock arrives and he/she is having such a good time that he/she decides to stay and never discover that the door is locked.
The person doesn’t make a choice to stay.
- It may seem that way but leaving is no long a possibility. Therefore the person cannot select it.

If God is perfect, then why is there so much controversy over his existence and his intentions? For most people, a perfect being is one who can be understood by everyone.

I think that either God is not perfect or the description of perfection (as written by the Bible) is NOT a description of God.

What do you think?

All answers are welcome.

Quite often I read atheists cynical ,scornful ,hysterical hostile reponses toward christians and other religious people in this yahoo Q&A.

Its funny to read those lines but some were cross the line.

I am surprised how atheists came to be so confident about non existence of god.

they think or believe scientifically god cant exist.

So I asked myself what scientific theory probably can support atheism.

evolution theory , todays genetics and some theorectical physics can sopport atheism.

But none of these can kill god completely.

not yet there was no fatal counter blow to knockout the god.

atheism is also a kind of religion in a sense that

Religious people believe in god"s existence even though they dont see god.

Atheists believe in non existence of god even though thet dont have any proof beyond doubt

there s no difference ,atheists are religious.am I right ?
