Do any Christians decide to be atheist to rebel?

As an atheist, Christians tell me this all the time.

I was just wondering what your thoughts are on this. There are some people who say they believe in God and heaven, but they are scared to death of dying (no pun intended). If they truely believed that heaven existed and was a much better place than this earth, would they still be so frightened?

Since I'm taking a graduate-level class in thermodynamics, I should really explain it to my professor.

You've told me Christians are stupid, crazy, hypocritical, narrow-minded, etc... YOU tell me that I can't prove to you that God exists. Okay... So I would like YOU to give me proof that there is NO God. And like you, I want tangible evidence, undisputable proof, not something some guy wrote down in a book. Fire away....

To anyone I offended tonight, I am sorry.
That is a heartfelt sorry to God first & foremost & to anyone who felt I hurt or disappointed you in anyway.
Please forgive me.

This is soo no excuse,
though I am a christian, I am also human.
And I have really had a bad day.
Walk a mile in my shoes?
Though absolutley no excuse.

God knows me & understands me. He is my Abba Father. He loves unconditionally & is soo Compassionate & merciful,
I Adore Him
& no it's not a ploy to preach to you,
but to show you a glympse perhaps of a no. of bad hours in a Christians walk.
So you know how human we are & we have feelings too. God bless us!

I just watched Jesus camp and the evangelist church leaders were pretty out there. Before a meeting they prayed over every chair and even the electrical system. Are any of you guys tired of evangelists pushing extremist their views on you?

GHADEER – Government of the people, for the people, by GOD’, is a quest. It goes in search of a man, in whose company the sun of your destiny never sets. In every age, people of intellect, righteousness, integrity, and faith have been immensely moved and deeply influenced by such a man. In the shelter of the spirit of such a man, people have organised into forts of unforeseen strength in opposition to tyranny. Whenever, justice is in jeopardy, the wronged, the usurped, and the oppressed, turn to such a man whose distinguished acts of justice, stern commitments to the way of justice, and unflinching stand on behalf of justice, have been surpassed by none. The Christian West met the Islamic world much earlier than the crusades when the breeze carrying the mildest fragrance of Ali gently stirred Europe in its sleep. Long before Europe could even dream up a remote synonym of ‘human rights’, or even had the vaguest idea of it as the most basic of civilised values, did Islam introduce and celebrate it. Even better. It had also preserved the actions and words, of the pioneer of human rights – Ali ibne Abi Talib. There is no chapter in the charter of the U.N., which is not running parallel to the rules laid down by Ali in his letters to his governors, especially the one to Malik al Ashtar – a letter, as you will see in this book, has undoubtedly influenced the United Nations’ charter strongly. The imprints are too striking to be ignored or to go unobserved. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights has a formidable precedent in the form of Imam Ali’s letter written almost 1400 years ago. Irrespective of the change in the needs and eras of lifestyles, the jargon of the contemporary philosophies, and the new vicissitudes of techno-crazy world opening up at sci-fi speed, the letter of Ali ibne Abi Talib accommodates today and tomorrow.

The story of Ali is the story of human rights.

Many that hold religious and spiritual beliefs will claim that most sin can be forgiven, but that Suicide is the only unforgivable sin for the fact that an individual cannot forgive themsevles for/after the act.

So... Lets assume, for a second, that the world truly worked by the means of the new-aged idea of the Law of Attraction. In other words, our realities are contrived purely from our consistant and most dominant thoughts (regardless of them being conscious or subconscious).

Then... If this were to be the case, would it be considered Spiritual Suicide (unforgivable suicide) if an individual's most consistant and dominant thoughts was to leave this world and live in eternity with God, thus bringing them some sort of random death (i.e. Die in their sleep, Hit by a car, etc etc etc.)?

That is to say, R&S and Politics.

People, especially those religious nuts who will fervently disagree with dissenting opinion and will take said opinion as personal attack, will get trigger happy.

Do you think the risk is greater in these kinds of sections than in any other section of this site?

For example, in the old testament versus the new one, I always hear that God was "just different" back then and that he had to send his only son and all that jazz, but why? To send a son rather than just "make it" to where every one's sins are payed for seems to me like God has a limitation which seems like a contradiction for a supposedly omnipotent being. And then what about sending Moses the 10 commandments and then giving the little b@stard (oh get over it, anyone who slaughters many people just to save his own [and in doing so acting as if their lives are more valuable] is a b@stard in my book) the power to kill all those soldiers hot on his trail? Isn't that also a contradiction? And there are a million, billion more, believe me, but let's just start here.
