You've told me Christians are stupid, crazy, hypocritical, narrow-minded, etc... YOU tell me that I can't prove to you that God exists. Okay... So I would like YOU to give me proof that there is NO God. And like you, I want tangible evidence, undisputable proof, not something some guy wrote down in a book. Fire away....

Some things do not need to be proven to be true. I know there is a God just as I know the wind is there.

I can't see the wind but I can see it's effects. I cannot see God but I see his wonderful creation.

Even if there was concrete PROOF of God's existence, like his signature on a rock, there would still be those who would not believe.

Many people SAW Jesus AFTER his arose from the dead yet they still did not believe he was God.

There is more evidence of a divine creator than there is evidence of the lack of one.

"You've told me Christians are stupid, crazy, hypocritical, narrow-minded, etc..."

No.... no I haven't. I may have said "narrow-minded" once or twice, but I can't even recall saying that in the past few weeks.

"YOU tell me that I can't prove to you that God exists"

That's right, you can't. That doesn't somehow negate the fact that it's still YOUR responsibility to try.

"give me proof that there is NO God"

No, I can't do that either. I can't prove a negative. I can't disprove Yahweh any more than you can disprove the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I can demonstrate that the concept of a god is logically impossible, but that STILL doesn't count as proving a negative.

But you know what? That's not my problem. No matter how much you want to MAKE IT my problem, it still isn't. You make the positive assertion (i.e. "God exists"), and it's your responsibility to prove it. The skeptic isn't required to disprove any and all claims asserted. That which you assert as existent isn't "demonstrated" as existing just because you ask a trick question of the skeptics.

In the absence of rational justification, the philosophically responsible course of action is to remain skeptical until such time that the responsible party (those making the positive assertion) meets the burden of proof.

P.S. Making fun of people who remind you that the burden of proof rests squarely upon your shoulder doesn't change the fact that it DOES.

Just wondering how is God a negative. We have scholars that do nothing but study Gods existence. Proof is all around you people. Jesus is how religions were born. You see it every day how does God not exist. I think you have a good question. I think it would be better for them to prove there positions saying something like this. There is no God because people came from evolution not created by God. No none of that, they hide behind you can't prove a negative. What the **** is that.If you don't believe God exists you have a reason to believe that and has nothing to do with negatives.

Could you prove that the God of the Qur'an doesn't exist? How about the Quetzalcoatl? Anubis? Ra? Zeus? What make these any different then the no proof of your god? You need Proof when you claim something and tell people they should live their lives by it. We say burden of proof because I can accuse you of murder. If by your standards you would then have to prove at every moment in your life that you have never killed, if you were somehow unable to remember where you were at any given time, they you are a murder. Real life and logic don't work that way. It is up to me to prove you are a murder, not for you to prove your not.

Simple. As a christian, you must believe that your god is the one true god, and all other gods in this world that are worshipped do not exist. Tell me how you prove that, and I will apply that same logic to your god.

Or, read up on logic. There is no way to prove the non-existance of something. Logically speaking, the burden of proof rests with the person asserting something does exist. If they cannot prove it, then it, by all rights, does not exist.

Hmm, have we heard this question before?

One is innocent until proven guilty.

someone can say that a murder took place, but until the evidence is there that says there was actually a murder, the police can't do anything.
Right?

OR
i could say that there is a flying monkey who wears a mink coat who flys into my bedroom and makes me eat chinese food while singing NSYNC

BUT in order for anyone to believe that, there would have to be some evidence to support the claim

which is why people are putting the burdon of proof on you.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk here...i'm just trying to get you to see why people would put the burdon of proof on you....as pretty much everywhere else in the world, that's the case

Honestly, i can't stress this enough....i'm just commenting on the burdon of proof.

i haven't given you my beliefs....i haven't sided with you on your question or not....i haven't called you any of those things you mentioned
and i'd actually love to hear why the burdon of proof shouldn't be on the people who believe in God.
i'd be very interested in an e-mail

have an excellent day

Well being an agnostic, I can tell you that nobody has proof either way... that is why I believe what I believe.. the question is irrelevant unless or until humans find absolute proof of the existence or non-existence of god/s of any kind. From my point of view it is ridiculous to say you "know" god exists, or you "know" god doesnt exist. I say we should all admit our ignorance and say... I dont know if god/s do or do not exist... but a) I believe they do b) I believe they do not. In all honesty that is the truth, people should quit lying and label things as they are and not as they would wish them to be, no proof exists therefore no truth exists as of yet. You cant prove god exists, I cant prove he doesnt... thats why we each have our own BELIEFS, claiming belief as truth when no supporting evidence exists is arrogant.

I'd like to give you an introduction to logic.

In a logical argument, one cannot prove that something does not exist. This is due mostly to the fact that we cannot search every millimeter of the universe at the same time. This means that, though I highly doubt that leprechauns exist, and take it as a fact that they do not given the glaring lack of evidence, I cannot PROVE that there are no leprechauns or fairies or invisible pink unicorns or flying spaghetti monsters. However, this is irrelevant as the burden is on the proposer of the positive, in your example - that God exists, to prove this existence. Until you can prove that this creature exists, in essence, it does not.

Umm.... I didn't tell you any of those things. I think everybody should be free to believe what they like as long as it has no effect on others. Religion is a personal choice and should stay that way. It belongs in the hearts and minds of the people and not in our laws or schools etc. I don't feel the need to prove to you that God doesn't exist because I would never wish to discourage your faith.

We're not the ones that have to prove it, and you can't prove a negative anyway.
We don't believe in a god and that's that. You're the one trying to say that he does exist, so you should be the one that proves it. By the way, we haven't gotten any proof from ya either.

He does not exist because you can't give us real proof , you know...tangible, indisputable proof that he does.

**Oh, and sweetie the burden of proof IS on you.
