My mother passed away 3 years ago.I was beside her when she died.
I spent the last day telling her about The Teaching of The Buddha.Told her that we were switching off the respirator and asked her to go with happy thoughts and to recite Namo Buddhaya. When my mother died,I was not depress nor sad.In fact,I felt a sense of serenity;knowing that I had helped her to let go peacefully.

Euthenasia .....a most controversial subject.
Death to Buddhists should be free of anxiety. A terminally ill person should not be shown pity, but should be shown compassion and should be freed from anxiety.
Anxiety could come in the form of fear of a painful death and it is my opinion as a Buddhist that a dying person should be allowed as painless a death as possible.
If drugs are necessary for the relief of pain then they should be administered but not to the extent that the patient's mental faculties are affected, unless it is absolutely necessary for that level of pain.
The patient should then be made as physically and mentally comfortable as they wish and be allowed to pass away without anxiety or physical pain or the administration of drugs to induce death.
This would show true compassion.
Peace from a Buddhist..

If they believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior and know they are going to heaven, then by all means let them go Home to their Lord. But if they don't know Christ, than tell them about Him and assure them that if they let go of life without knowing Him then, as blunt as this sounds, they'll go to hell. The only way they can have eternal rest and peace is through the blood of Jesus. If they accept this, then pray with him/her, hold their hand, and let them go peacefully.

I think that we should allow people who are terminally ill or in a great deal of pain to end their lives and their suffering... think about it - you'd do it for your dog, and you'd probably want it done for you if no medical options existed.
