I was just wondering what your thoughts are on this. There are some people who say they believe in God and heaven, but they are scared to death of dying (no pun intended). If they truely believed that heaven existed and was a much better place than this earth, would they still be so frightened?

Fear of death has nothing to do to believing in Heaven, or any religion. We are made to be Eternal and this is unconscious on us. Life on Earth is our only notion of life, and it is the biggest blessing God could give us, that's why we dont want to die. Besides, nobody wants to leave their family behind.

I AM SURE there is a better Life in the other side, but I am scared of dying, of course, why would I be hurry?? Life here is good, too and I have my children. However, I accept the idea that one day I will leave, and I pray to God that that day is still far. I pray that I have the chance to raise my kids and do things for those I love, including posting my thoughts here.

Fear of death is absolutely natural and intuitive in human being, no matter the religion or no religion at all, because it is based on what we sense here, but we know we are eternal.

Peace!

I don't think it's afraid of death but the unknown, even though you know you are going to heaven you still fear what you have never seen or experienced it's human nature. It may be a fear of leaving loved ones, or a fear of being in a new place. My first time flying I figured I'd be fine but I was still scared because I'd never done it before, it's kind of the same.

Well, I believe in Heaven and I know I am going there when I die. I am not really afraid of dying, but more afraid of what I am leaving behind. I do not want to leave my young children without a mom. I don't want my husband to be left raising the children without me. I don't want to leave him. I am truly excited about going to heaven, but not excited about dying. I'm just afraid of what will happen when I'm gone.

Interesting when you think about that, isn't it?

I had a near fatal car wreck several years ago. I learned that I wasn't afraid of death...but I was sure afraid of the process of dying. There's pain and uncertainty and the finality of it all is a lot to cope with. We can talk all about everlasting life..but truth is, as living beings, we really don't know what happens after we take that last breath.

Death really is the great unknown.

We are not afraid to die. We are afraid of how we will die. Will our deaths be quick and painless or will it be long and torturous? Will we be terrorized by evil people who maliciously keep us alive to prolong our pain before we die? Do you think the little 4-year-old girl whose body was found raped to death in a ditch peaceful? Do you think she cared about what would happen to her AFTER she died? NO!!!!!!!
She was terrified AS she was dying? What right do you have to judge? Have you ever had a near death experience? Have you ever been in an unpleasant situation that you couldn't get out of and no on came to help you no matter how much you cried out? Think about it.

I'm afraid to die because I don't know what it is. I won't know until i experience death, and since I don't believe in heaven or hell (but if I'm wrong, I WANT to go to hell! I couldn't stand the sugary sweetness of heaven! I like sweet things, but when food is too sweet, I get sick to my stomach.) so that means I'll never know what death is. And as a curious person (I like to just sit at school and listen to people talk about themselves and then write down the info they say. I actually have two peoples entire class schedules... When I told them this, they said I was a stalker. My reply was, "No, you're just pompous asses who only talk about yourselves!" That shut them up!) I want to know lots of things. That's why I'm afraid of death/dying. But I'm not Christian, I just like talking about myself, and I'm not afraid to admit it!

If they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and truly KNOW they are going to heaven when they die, then they should have no fear of dying whatsoever! (Personally, I look forward to death, as odd as it sounds. I love life and living, but I know that worst in heaven will be so much better than the best that the world could hope to give us.) If they claim to be a Christian but fear death, then they probably aren't. (Death itself is a frightening thing, but it's AFTER death that is so much better for those that love Christ!)

I do not fear death since I know that there is a better place prepared for me. Do I wish to die today?? No, I do enjoy life and the time I can spend with my family and friends.

Just because I do not wish to die now does not mean I fear death.

There is a saying " Everybody wants to go to heaven, nobody wants to die."
fear of the unknown, we want to believe in heaven but deep down few of us are willing to stake our life on it. I believe with all my heart that their is a father/creater of our souls. A father of love who dearly loves and awaits my return. but reality is we could "just decompose" If their is something more than here choosing love here might get ya a better seat.

Yes, because we are human. It is not the death that scares people I think it is the when and how the unknown about it all. Will it hurt? Will I be alone? When will it happen? How is it going to happen? Will I be ready?
Being dead does not scare me. I know what is waiting for me. I trust the Father and He knows when the best time is for me to exit.
