Just for the record, I am Irish, and anyone who insults the Irish I'll be happy to invite you outside for a four letter word. But I have this urgent question. From my understanding of the leggend of St. Patrick, he was from England, and was therefore english. I have heard a story that he was actually greek, which makes no sense to me. Please explain if you can.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm naive when it comes to religion, so can someone please tell me what the key differences are between the two religions? Thanks!

Please don't leave a stupid response.
Those who are true disciples(not "christians" posing as a believer) what do you think? Seen them? Dreams?

From what I can tell, people come to the Religion and Spirituality section with the intent not of seeking to discover new knowledge but to promote and advertise a specific position (be it a given religion, an Atheistic stance or a position of non-confrontation).

Is this generally the case, and if so, isn't there an argument to be made for the immediate closure of the board?

Where, in the Bible, does Satan tell God or Jesus that people only love Him because of what he has to offer them? And that they wouldn't love Him if he had nothing to offer?

Basically what is your comprehension of it?

Or does God really want us all to die as soon as possible and not try so desperately to live until the bitter and not always so graceful end?
If people in biblical days life expectancy was only about 45-50,

Is it God that brought us sanitation, better medicine and better eating habits, or is it man who is responsible for the only very recent century of population explosion, partly blamed on not enough people dying?

And what are people so afraid of that they have to hold on for dear life if they knew for a fact they were going to heaven?

Even the most religious seem to agree with everyone else, that dying is about the worst thing that can happen to anyone.

Are you ready to shift your paradigm then?

Atheists, if you answered yes, then it's time to stop calling christians stupid.

Christians, by the same token, it's time to stop calling atheists stupid.

If it takes intelligence to be willfully ignorant, they cannot be stupid.

This message brought to you by the R&S Ministry of Religious Tolerance.
Thank you and have a nice evening.

i mean someone just asked on relationships and family section 'am i a bad person for losing my virginity at 15' and some religious person starts quoting psalms from the bible, and telling them they are a bad person and will go to hell unless they go to church every day and say 10 hail marys.. i mean what the heck?? do people honestly live a life by a book which i personally believe is a book of fantasy and wishful thinking that somebody made up to keep society in order, and for those people who cant handle the fact they are in control of their life not some invisible person that may not have even exist.. dont get me wrong i dont think the entire bible isnt real, there is no smoke with out fire, the bases of the stories are probably real but have just been changed like in chinese whispers..

back to the point dont you think you should answer questions with YOUR own views and opinions instead of opinions and rules stated in a book somebody else wrote

When and why did you become an Atheist? What aspects about Atheism do you like and dislike? What do strive for? Are you morals any different then a religious person?

Please, no comments from anyone other than the Atheists, I do not care about your salvation or that god is going to send us to hell, or that Jesus died for the sins of the Jews.

Aren't Christians more open-minded to think outside of what they can see?

Faith. If you understand faith, how can you blame a Christian for believing so intensely that they are not being easily swayed?

Please don't start quoting the bible. I know it well. My mother, who I have not seen in over 20 yrs and have not talked to in about the same sent me a birthday present. Every year, on my birthday, a small package shows up. It is sincere and usually a very nice gift. This year it was a little more personal. A beautiful array of plants were delivered. NEVER has it been this personal. I am not going to spill my insides about how things went down but the pain WAS incredible...got therapy and have tried to understand her (in our world I will not call but I will send her a nice thank you note with pictures of her grandchildren). My question is...HAVE YOU EVER HAD TO GET PAST SOMETHING AND STILL HAVE IT COMING AT YOU? I forgive her, gave up "the stones I carried" but just wanted to know if others have had to work "around the pain."

Quite often, when I discuss faith and spirituality with religious people here or elsewhere, they assume I am an Atheist. When I inform them I am, in fact, an Agnostic, they either ignore me and continue calling me an Atheist, or go "Well aren't they the same thing?"

Why is this, do you think? Just curious.

I ask please for no quotes from scripture. I'm asking for any mythological or almost pre-history legends or stories that told of a man named Abraham or that had a similar style.
