Or does God really want us all to die as soon as possible and not try so desperately to live until the bitter and not always so graceful end?
If people in biblical days life expectancy was only about 45-50,

Is it God that brought us sanitation, better medicine and better eating habits, or is it man who is responsible for the only very recent century of population explosion, partly blamed on not enough people dying?

And what are people so afraid of that they have to hold on for dear life if they knew for a fact they were going to heaven?

Even the most religious seem to agree with everyone else, that dying is about the worst thing that can happen to anyone.

Man was not meant to die but live. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says that "time indefinite he has put in their heart, that mankind may never find out the work that the [true] God has made from the start to the finish." This means, in our hearts, we want to live on and on and continue growing and learning about God's creation. We will never feel as though we know enough or that we are finished living.

The Bible, although not a science manual, at times touches on scientific matters. You mention sanitation, and eating habits. Although it would take scientist a few hundred years to link unsanitary toilet habits to disease, God commanded Israel to bury fecal matter outside of their living areas (Deuteronomy 23:12) The Bible also encourages such things as moderation in eating and drinking, remaining calm to protect ones heart.
Although science can be credited with amazing advances that have prolonged life in some cases, it also bears the responsibility of causing the death of millions, mainly through what it has done in creating weapons of mass destruction, but also through medical "breakthroughs" that were not sufficiently researched before being launched upon a trusting and unsuspecting public. Those are 2 examples. There are more.

Scientists are not God's angels. They are humans who have helped mankind immensely. Angels are not and never have been humans. They are God's messengers.

In Biblical days man lived to be 800 and 900 years old. Adam lived to be 930 years old. Adam's disobedience brought mankind physical death.

Man has brought us sanitation and better medicine using God's resources. Better eating habits? We are eating all of the wrong things like fast foods.

I am a Christian, and I look forward to seeing God, Jesus and my loved ones who are in Heaven. I do want to stay here as long as God has planned for me to. I have a husband, children and grandchildren here. I am not afraid to live eternally.

We are always somewhat apprehensive about something that we haven't done before. Myself included.

People are afraid of death because they don't understand that it is a state of unconsciousness were you can not help or harm anyone.
Life is precious and God put the desire to live forever in mankind's heart. It is part of our genetic make up.
If there were no war, murder, or accidents, the average life span would rise by statistics anyway.
But the desire to live forever will be always with us!

The first man, Adam, had the prospect of living forever. His body was designed with the necessary faculties to live and enjoy eternal life. Eternal life was conditional, though. Adam had to collaborate with and be obedient to the Source of life, his Creator, in order to maintain his life perpetually.—Genesis 1:31; 2:15-17.

Adam chose to disobey the Creator. In effect, Adam claimed that man is better off ruling himself independent of God. Thus he sinned. From that point onward, it was as if his genetic code was altered. Instead of passing on everlasting life as an inheritance to his offspring, Adam transmitted sin and death.—Genesis 3:6, 19; Romans 6:23

The bible teaches that we can live forever, but not through man's efforts. God, through his Kingdom will bring everlasting benefits to those who willingly submit to his loving rule.

why do you post such senseless comments? God gave us a need to live physically, so we adhere to it. prolonging life (when wanted) isn't a bad thing.

besides. God created the atoms used to make the compounds/mixtures used to cure disease, slow down the de-aging process and for us to live healthy. coincidence?

and actually, the most religious agree that dying without God is the worst thing that can happen to anyone.

The great historical French surgeon Ambroise Paré was the emancipator of surgery, whose modesty and humanitarianism is remembered by his aphorism, "Je le pensay, et Dieu le guarit" (I dressed it, and God healed it).
