A lot of christians i talk to deny the bible says anything about killing except the bible is very gorey in some parts and says you shall smite those who do [insert something bad against god] but the very comandment says "thall shalt not kill". And don't try to use other verses to counteract that when it CLEARLY states on the comandements THALL SHALT NOT KILL. no matter how many useless verses you site you can't deny that your religion has been corrupted by some of the men who wrote your own book.

i have done some math wth my Bible, the time between Creation and Noah's sons being born is 1,556 years. and you say the Flood was at most 5000 years ago. so even if you factor in 500 years for Noah's sons to get married and let's say 100 years of the Flood itself, that's still only around 7000 years of existence, around 5000 BC. We know that people started farming in Europe at about that time. I just don't get it.

and use it to build lavish buildings, or other things that I see as wasteful. If I were to ever join a church all the money raised better be going to help less fortunate people in a productive way, not build some fancy **** that does nothing to better humanity. Shouldn't the idea of religion be to help others?

I am a Roman Catholic. I am tired of being the butt of jokes from libs, evangelicals, just about everyone. My ethnicity is Italian and religion is very important to my country. Yet in these hyper-sensative days when you can't say anything for fear of insulting someone it's perfectly acceptable to stereotype (The Sopranos) make fun of the Virgin Mary and even Christ Himself. Why should I have to put up with this when everyone else would be hollering "Hate Crime" over only about 1/20 of what I put up with on a daily basis.

To my brothers and sisters who need encouragment:

You are doing God's work, and it is not done in vain (Matt 6:27; Rom 8:28; 1 Cor 15:58). Despite the obstacles and trials, it is not done for nothing.

God will overcome wickedness in the end, so keep on fighting. God is the Victor, and so are you! (Psalm 37:13).

God laughs at those who mock Him and those who think they can outsmart God will eventually lose (Psalm 2:4).

If only you could hear the people in Heaven cheering for you! If only the angels' joyous cries were heard on Earth! If only you could see the numerous eternal rewards laid out for you! If only you could hear the people in Hell encouraging you to tell more people about sin and its consequences.

Do NOT give up, and do NOT listen to criticism. Blessed are those are persecuted for God's sake, for their reward in Heaven is great (Matt 5:11-12).

It's a hard life, but remember...there is no gravity in Heaven, so the weight of your cross will not always exist!

Look Historically. The jews killed people for believing in christ, and christ himself. It wasnt excepted at first. Couldnt that be said the same as how scientology is being nailed to the cross with critisism....? Same could be said of mormons, and any other church said to be a cult. So why are we not attacking the mormons with everything we got, or any other.....I think its because scientology is a new religion...The christians themselves even killed people for not believing in christ, in my opinion if I had lived back, lets say, durning the crusades...I would have though it was a dangerous cult too. what do u think?

Not just from a religious perspective.

How often do we actually possess all necessary information before making a choice? Or how many times are we right in thinking that we possess true and not false information, before making a specific choice?

(ok, if you do not want "random choice", take "biologically/subconsciously caused choice" instead)

From the controversial accusations of her mistake regarding a kidnapped boy, Sylvia Browne has been put on the spot numerous occassions. Whether you believe or not, I can tell you that psychics are about 80% accurate in reality & DO make mistakes. Psychics are not perfect nor are they God in any way, merely they have a God-given gift. Sylvia Browne has helped so many other people in her line of work & despite her terrible mistake deserves forgiveness. I believe she is a good person & reading her books even she will tell you she is not perfect either. Anybody else tired of hearing people berate her just because they either don't believe in psychics and the paranormal or because of a couple mistakes? She isn't perfect you know...& she'll ADMIT to it, unlike most people in general...

As in "Bible study", but also in "studying history", "studying literature", etc.

I'll go first: studying (and I do a lot of it) is about looking at ideas from as many perspectives as possible. Say I want to study George Eliot's Middlemarch, there are many pubilshed criticisms about her work that I can consult, and now I know the novel quite well, I can consider their points of view (which often disagree quite dramatically) and arrive at my own. Same if I want to study the philosophy of ethics, or the history of wigs, or whatever floats your boat.

Is this how people "study" the Bible? What does "study" mean to you?

My teenage son wants to know the answer and so do I. When a person dies, it is ovious that his body returns to the dirt, but where does the spirit and the soul go? Some people say that the soul is reserved by God. Is a part of us still alive, but just not in physical body.
