Why do christians deny people kill in the name of god?

A lot of christians i talk to deny the bible says anything about killing except the bible is very gorey in some parts and says you shall smite those who do [insert something bad against god] but the very comandment says "thall shalt not kill". And don't try to use other verses to counteract that when it CLEARLY states on the comandements THALL SHALT NOT KILL. no matter how many useless verses you site you can't deny that your religion has been corrupted by some of the men who wrote your own book.

so god lets you kill people with his premission? so lets all smite the people who don't agree with us! great solution.

Yes, Christians have killed people in the name of religion. But how about taking a look at the social structure and the prevailing beliefs of the times in which those people lived before you make generalizations about the Christians of this time and this cultural milieu?

I will not deny that people have killed in the name of God. Jews, Muslims, and Christians alike have killed for the same God. Other "faiths" have as well.

But, as you are making it something more, a contradiction. Many have been on this kick lately, but as many have already tried to tell you that the word used was murder and not kill. It should not be that hard a concept sense we and many other cultures have the same concept that to kill with intent is murder and to kill in war or for protection is different.

You need to understand that the old and new testaments are different. The old, teaches about how it was when GOD spoke directly to the people. Unfortunately, they didn't listen then either. In the new testament, Jesus was sent here to show the people that the laws of GOD can be followed. True believers of GOD would never dare claim that people haven't killed in the name of GOD. Almost all religions want us to better ourselves. It's humans that have messed it up. Under the guise of religion, they will take specific quotes out of context for use for their own power or to justify criminal acts such as killing and war, or torture. Greed also comes into it too. Jesus changed all the previous 10 commandments and combined them into 2. Love God and love your neighbour. If you love god you will take care of the world and universe he created for you and if you love your neighbour, you would not be able to kill him , steal from him, cheat on him, etc.
