I have been going thru a separation/breakup/i dont know what with my partner of 5 years. I have turned to Psychics, Horoscopes, Tarot cards and this thing you do with your ring and a strand of hair. All answers point to a positive outcome. I do this thing with the cards where you ask a question and count out 3 piles of up to 13 cards. if an ace appears in any of these piles you stop coz that indicates part of the answer (3 aces = definately, 2-yes, 1= maybe and none is a no). Do i trust what these say. Has anyone heard of the ring and hair thing where you ask yes/no questions and it swings a certain way? do i believe this too. I ask the ring the same questions and get the same answers. Help. Does anyone know of a good website which does a free reading?

Why do so many protestants judge Catholics for practices such as "praying to the Virgin Mary" or praying novenas to patron saints? OR praying in front of holy statues/pictures? Please, do not answer those questions. Basically, WHAT IS THE POINT of judging Catholics for all the practices and beliefs mentioned? I mean, what is going to happen to these Catholics for their beliefs and practices? Are they going to go to hell when they die, for the fact that they "pray to the Virgin Mary?" Huh? Are they not going to be saved?? What is it? Christians think its idolizing,so they are sinning.AND? Um.HELLO!!Christians, examinate yourself. Yeah, your own sins. You know you drop babies out of wedlock, drink to your heart's extent, enjoy the premarital sex over and over, etc., etc. If we are all sinners and if Jesus judges us equally for salvation, what is the point of even judging Catholics 'idolizing'? WE ALL SIN in one form or another and it's all the same in God's eye. Stop being hypocritical!

Does anyone know atheists in their daily lives? The only atheist that I know of is someone that I suspect is some sort of white racist, and he rejects the idea of a God for racial reasons. In fact, he was my former supervisor, and he was a messed up guy with a body full of tattoos, a screwed up family, and he bragged about all the women that he bangs (which he might actually do, since he hangs with the trashy crowd, including trashy women).

There were other people who might have been atheists, but this is the only one that I know of for sure. I'm not really religious, but I think that at least believing in God is important.

Human culture and relationships have seen war including but not limiting to religion, claiming resources, sex, and power. Every moment , there is war raging somewhere on the planet. Now we worry about nuclear war or world war three (WWIII). Are we infact destine to destroy ourself. Is that our legacy and testement to human history? If I was an alien from another planet, how would I tell my people back home of human civilization?

.....if you live by it and it is 'a truth'....you're home free...and if you life by it and it is 'myth'....at least you won't be stealing, be
killing, be a liar, you'll respect your mom and dad as well as love your neighbor, and that's just half of the commandments,
imagine how good you'd be if you followed all of them....so
actually, wouldn't that be your little bit of heaven right now, right here on earth?

I remember that a stick is how they made scripture in bible times--A scroll.

15. The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,
16. Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick...For Judah... then take another stick...For Joseph...
17. ...join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
19. ...Thus sayeth the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Isreal his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

In my question 'What do you believe and why?', you asked me why I put you on my contacts list, sense, because I'm Christian, I must hate you. You said you were sorry for bashing, but you're trying to free me from something that is terribly wrong.
I don't hate you. I think you're wrong in your beliefes, just as you see my beliefes wrong.
In the new Testement of the Bible, Jesus says "You have heard the law that says, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say, Love you enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!" (Matthew 5:43-44)
I am willing to act on this commandment. I am willing to follow all the commandments given in the Bible, and I would die for what I believe.
Search your heart. If you were held at gunpoint and told that, if you say 'Yes, I'm an Athiest', you would be killed, would you say, 'Yes, I'm an Athiest'? Would you say no, just to live?
I'm a Christian, and in two years I'll be a Missionary. I'm willing to die for what I believe.
Are You?????

I read an article on the Chicago Suntimes today about religion in Spain. Once a very Catholic nation, Spain seems to be on a different course now that it has "legalized divorce, promoted sex ed, decriminalized abortion, accepted drug possession for personal use, gambling in public, prostitution and gay marriage". So how has this affected the country? "Spain is now 10 times richer per capita than 30 years ago. With a good secular and free kinder to university education system, Spain has less violent crime, fewer people in jail and fewer policemen per inhabitant than the mostly religious US". The difference? "In Europe more people behave ethically than in America, not because they fear God, but because they personally believe in doing what is right". Can it work in the USA?

I am in a secular college and this is what the required textbook says about Christianity. I'm particularly curious to see what Atheists think of this.....

"Christianity is basically a historical religion. That is to say, it is founded not on abstract principles but in concrete events, actual historical happenings"

This is a tough one. Our town has about 300 children in its only elementary school. They are almost all Christian (although, interestingly enough, our high school valedictorian for 2006 was Wiccan).

Feel free to try to save my soul if you must, but answers from other Pagan parents would be more helpful.
