attempts to shorten the definition instead of understanding the whole concept may be one of the reasons a few people keep asking "if we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys"
however here goes;
constant trial and error adaptation
now go read the whole definition in wikipedia. if you know what a haiku is you probably can't have that short an attention span.
