If you're not stealing, killing, lying, etc., because the bible 'might' be true, then stay the hell away from me.
Personally, I don't kill, steal, or lie because I don't want others to do those things to me. It's about respect for other people, not because 'god told me to'.
My mother gets my respect, for being a single parent and putting me through private school (although I wish it hadn't been catholic school). She took alot of menial jobs to get me a decent education, and has even apologized for the religious aspects of it. My father took off when my mother was pregnant. Is he worthy of respect, as the bible says?
Platonically, I love my neighbors...more than christians do. They are 2 people who work very hard (one's a doctor, the other a decorator/student). Both volunteer their time to charity, and they are very much in love. Unfortunately, the christian faction of this country seems to think that because they're gay, they don't deserve the same rights to happiness as I do.
Seriously, my morality comes from common sense and living in the real world. Treat others as you wish to be treated is a fine lesson to live by...it applies to everyone, regardless of faith. Unfortunately, many people seem to think that message only applies when the 'others' share their point of view.
BTW-David, there's a reason that atheists don't get upset about secular humanism (its an extension of atheism), taoism, buddhism, judaism, etc. Those people aren't laying down judgement, as many christians do. Hell, of what you list, 3 aren't even religions...just philosophies. Don't delude yourself into thinking we're at war because we're too proud to accept your version of the truth. Besides, when was the last time a Jew tried to have the Torah or Talmud read in a public school class, or change science class to include their particular faith?

If you can imagine that morality comes from Christianity alone, you can probably believe anything.
The truth is that every civilisation has moral codes that prohibit stealing and killing and such.
The Bible is replete with rape and torture and slavery sanctioned by God. How can you possibly imagine that this book is the only source of morality in this world, when the most blood-thirsty god of them all rules the show?

Why do so many christian fuss about the 'davinci code' book when they are suppose to have so much faith in their religion. The point is, i do respect my parents, more than you do. I do love my neighbour, unlike you chrisitians who bomb down other neighbouring countries. And I am good. So wads the deal in following christianity? Besides, there is one thing i dun agree totally in christianity, u guys say i only go heaven if i believe in not god, but rather in your christian god...lol
1st all, i believe being a good person is da criteria, given heaven exist, cuz its so stupid if god created us just to see whether we believe in him lol...weird...
secondly, all god is one god...now what u guys are doing, is disintegrating the world...root of all problems in this planet...

Notice their dander isnt up when you talk about anything like secular humanism, Daoism, Buddhism, Judaism....just Christian.,.....HMMMMMM
