This is just my opinion, believe what you'd like, but I personally attribute the wars to the fall of man, BECAUSE-
In the book of enoch (which goes into the fall FURTHER and yes it's a legit book-some of the bible scriptures came out of it-and yes there's fake books of enoch-of course )anyways...it lists several "sons of heaven" that came down and intermixed with us humans, teaching us things...not that all they taught us was bad (medicine-roots& herbs and music, carpentry-but they taught us while too young, which is a form of molestation)but it's said Him and his were pulled aside, till the end of time, when the full effect/or result of what they taught us could be seen, then they'd be judged.
HIM being Azazel;or haylale in chaldean (lucifer) of course...Satan by our understanding.
He taught us first glamour, envy, see what I got, you don't...clothing jewelry etc
Then the art of war to help us resolve our issues...pretty tricky guy

If you were an alien from another planet, it would be wise to stay away from this planet and don't report anything back to your homies. If there's intelligent life out there, they're smart enough to keep away from us. That being said, people are always going to disagree and yeah, that sometimes results in war. I don't know if we're destined to destroy each other. It's possible. I think most people just want to be happy and want a peaceful planet. Hopefully those people outnumber the others who are all too eager to kill each other because of petty differences.

That some members compulsively obsess over trivial things, like the fact that they occassionally have conflicts with each other that must be addressed with means of force.
Would you rather tell your alien friends that humans are super-wimps that get totally walked over by any individual that shows a backbone? Despite what you may have gotten from the Care Bears cartoons, conflict via physical means is, sometimes, a necessary action to protect the greater good.

Korea, Japan, Russia, China(during civil war(theirs)), Vietnam, Cuba, France(privateers), British, Germany, Italy, Austria-Hungary, Tripoli(north African coast along mediteranian, used to be pirate nations), Mexico, Iran, Iraq, the Taliban, Columbian drug lords, various indian tribes, Confederacy, Al Queda, almost Venezuela now, Communism, you could include Canada when it was under british rule during the revolution, pirates, drug runners, ourselves during the Red Scare. For some reason I want to say malaysia, but I don't think so. What about Isreal-Arab conflicts, were we involved in any of those to the point where we went to war? I forgot Hawaii(hostile takeover), phillipines, and possibly some other island. Spain. Turkey. Austria. I think thats most of them. And during the spanish american war we declared war after a ship in cuba was blown up. A mine was blamed and yellow journalism dehumanized the spanish.

ego, arrogance, self centered materialism and greed are hard wired into humanity. it helped the strongest survive prehistoric times, but now that we advanced, those traits are not necessary for survival in their original measure, but we're stuck with it. intelligence is supposed to mean we can all recognize that and overcome it, but that's too much of an effort so we bash each other anyway. i'm not proud of my species. an alien would best describe us as something weird that should be avoided.

One of the most important things to look at is not the origin of and reasons for war (which has been around for as long as humanity) but the origin of and reasons for freedom (which has only arrived recently).

There are wars at the sub human level too—army ants, etc. The alien would say "they are just like us"..

I think war is indeed a part of our culture, and most probably the way we will end (even if it means a war on our environment!)

yes we fight all the time.
It took Mutually-Assured Destruction with nuclear weapons to stop. Be proud we did not destroy ourselves overthe 40 years of cold war.
