in the ancient world how did people related their gods? did thet belived that the other religion was wrong? I am not talking about the puny arabic religions (judaism, christianism, Islam) but the Politheistic religions of those from Egipt and Greece. I mean did the Greeks though that the egiptians gods didnt exist? or did the egiptians thought that their gods where the same as those of the greeks but in diferent manifestations? I am curious.

Quran 8:12 “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them. http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/008.q...

Notice that It doesnt say "I shall strike terror upon the disbelievers for their horrible and unjust assult upon the peaceable goodly self righteous hatefilled Muslims who have attacked you a million times".

Instead Allah says he will strike terror into...who? The attackers? The invaders? No...simply "those who disbelieve". Oh, and guess what happens after that! Yep, a goodly self righteous Islamic beheading!

Any Islamic scholars here? Explain to me why the fingers need to be chopped off as well...isnt the beheading sufficient? I can only think of two possiblities:

1. Allah's, for efficiency sake, wants finger entrees or soup additives.
2. Allah is into mutilation. Its cool.

What is Christianity's answer for historic human documentation dating back 5000BC; or other such occurances proven to be true such as prehistoric animals, dinosaur bones from 50 million years ago, 100 million year old rocks, Egyptian hyroglifics etc..///// things which blatently contradict the Garden of Eden as the proposed beginning of the Earth a few thousand years ago?

Over the centuries Judaeism and Jewry has been part of the fabric of life in Crete. There is not much obvious presence these days. Can anyone tell me how to connect with the community in any of the main towns. I wish to update the information for my web site.

Of the following verses one comes from the Bible, one comes from the Qur'an. Mostly to Christians, but to Muslims as well, can you explain why you assert that the other religion is violent (and often times Christians complain about the Qur'an killing non-believers) yet your own book holds the same violent ideas? How do you reconcile this belief if your own religion is the same way?

Kill disbelievers wherever you find them. If they attack you, then kill them. Such is the reward of disbelievers (Qur'an)

Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own. (Deuteronomy 17:2-7)

What do you think about the Catholic position on divorce?

(NOTE: An annulment is NOT a "Catholic divorce" as they are commonly called . . . it is a declaration that the marriage contract was never valid to begin with for some reason or another, so therefore, under Church law, the marriage never occurred.)

The whole belief system of Mormons is based on Visions, Messengers, Prophecy, and Revelation, yet even though the bible is chalked FULL of all this stuff, and even though most Christians SHOULD accept this as a normal part of how GOD communicates...if it has to do with Mormons, it's completely false! Shouldn't Christians at least check into all this stuff considering it's so much a part of their religion??? I did, and when I read up on all the happenings of the beginning of the church I KNEW that it was in fact the TRUE church of JESUS CHRIST, brought forth to prepare us for his coming.

I'm just curious what everyone thinks. The general idea of the theories is:

--evolution - everything evolved into what it is now
--intelligent design - speculates that things are just too complex, therefore there must be a "designer", it does not state that the designer is god or any other being.
--creationism - the theory of the bible

Considering that I've heard a lot about Christ, Allah, etc, I was wondering the following...
To those of you who practice "non-mainstream religion"....
If your Supreme being(s) answers your prayers - which being is it?
Yes, I'm serious, no, its not a slant against anyone.
I have been trying to have a relationship with "god" but its just not working out - I end up more confused than ever...
Any advice appreciated

if some one believes in something, theres always a chance of being wrong, but with faith is far more then belief.
so if you dont have faith then you belief, so dont question others but ur self. so meny sighns in ur face you just ignore

christian faith is a sort of belief but far more so the evidence one has is with God him self, if i felt him and had comunication with him so i have evidence he exist, and people cant prove he dosent exist .

If I am correct that you believe:

Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not God.
The Holy Spirit is not Michael the Archangel.
Michael the Archangel was placed in her womb.
He was born Jesus, Emmanuel, Savior.
He died and was resurrected to be Michael in Heaven.
He will come again to rule the earth.

How did the Holy Spirit, if not God the Creator, get a the separate entity of Michael the Archangel planted in Mary's womb, to perform a miracle that can only be performed by God?

My belief is that Jesus is not a creation, but an extension of God planted by the Holy Spirit.

First off I am not saying they are the same thing.

The word Islam itself is more of a verb than a noun. It is about achieving harmony through puting your faith in a greater power that interacts with everything. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered instructions on how we can specifically go about doing tihs. These instructions all revolve around universal respect and keeping in mind that ones actions will reciprocate everywhere.

Forgive that I can not clearly define Tao as one can not define Tao. I do not want to make an attempt at defining it and I am hoping that a good number of people reading this question have good graps on both beliefs.

My question is, would people pelase explain to me their thoughts on the similarities between Taoism and Islam?

There's somewhere God has not been.

Before God started to exist, there was another God that existed and who "hides" himself from the Christian/Islamic/Jewish God.

IF Christians say that God has always been because that's what the Bible says, then how can that even be known? God himself could not know such a thing. Nomatter how great a being is, there is always somewhere they haven't been and a time when they did not exist.

God, nomatter what he is, is limited by space and time...

If one tries to explain God as being simply a "higher dimensional" then there is always a higher dimension option.

The point is, that if God cannot be all knowing, or as the bIble puts it, "Omnipresent," "Omniscient" or "Omnipotent" he is an imposter or he simply does not exist.

Find another way.
