I have been on Yahoo Answers! for a few months now, and I noticed that the biggest fight is between Christians and Atheists. I'm a Roman Catholic on paper, but I got a degree in religious philosophy and believe that all faiths have a right in this world. I don't beleive in any one in particular, so I guess that makes me Athiests.

My problem is, that there is almost a no tolerance law between the Christian faith and the Atheist belief.

For example, the Bible thumpers are claiming that God is going to personally smite the Atheists either before the rapture or after. The hard-core Atheists claim that Jesus was a fraud. Being an educated human being, I can understand the Christian belief, but would think that they should pray for the Atheists, not ask God to kill them. Atheists abound seem to not realize that subtract the miracles, Jesus was still a good guy.

Does anyone else see my point of view? I'd like to hear from both sides in an educated debate. Please don't use scripture.

That's the story of Jesus calming the storm.
I'd say it no more proves Jesus is God than it proves Moses is God when he parted the Red Sea or Elijah raised the widows son from the dead.

I’m going to post something and then I’m going to leave for a few hours because what I have to say is very personal and raw.
I have been against the death penalty since I was a teenager. I always said “I’m against it, but if someone in my family were killed, I might change my mind.”
My grandmom, Ruth Lewis, was beaten to death in her home. Three guys pushed in through the front door and they took about an hour – she was alive for much of it. For one day I wanted not just to kill these guys but to beat them. I wanted them to feel the pain and fear that she felt as she died. They caught the guys that it and put them on trial. They asked us, her family, if we wanted the death penalty. As I talked about it with my own family, my daughter, who was 9, told me this “If we kill them, they win. Because then they make us as bad as they are.”

Do you believe in Heaven and Hell? Are they places that you go after you die? Do they exist - or are they just states of mind?

God did not command you to go over their and kill. Or are you letting President bush act as your God? Wouldn't that be idolitry? Also, you are invading their country and giving them the right to attack back. No one told us to go over there anyway, and Obsana Bin Laden didn't come from Iraq so why are we there?

Innocent people are killed everyday, and you think you are acting like a Christian? Well, I guess you are following your bibles.

"Next we headed for the land of Bashan, where King Og and his army attacked us at Edrei. But the LORD told me, 'Do not be afraid of him, for I have given you victory over Og and his army, giving you his entire land. Treat him just as you treated King Sihon of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon.' So the LORD our God handed King Og and all his people over to us, and we killed them all. We conquered all sixty of his towns, the entire Argob region in his kingdom of Bashan. These were all fortified cities with high walls and barred gates. We also took many unwalled villages at the same time. We completely destroyed the kingdom of Bashan, just as we had destroyed King Sihon of Heshbon. We destroyed all the people in every town we conquered – men, women, and children alike. But we kept all the livestock for ourselves and took plunder from all the towns." (Deuteronomy 3:1-7 NLT)

Can I first mention that while I am an atheist, this question is not meant to spark anger or abuse. The statement just makes sense to me, and I wanted to know why a theist might say it isn't.

"I contend that we are both atheists, you simply reject one fewer god than I, when you know why you reject all the other possible gods, you will know why I reject yours."

I am an Atheist and don't hate Christians,I respect their believe in god.I would never think of forcing my none believe on anyone.I am not fanatical about being an Atheist,I just follow my logic.Nor do I think that the national anthem should be changed because of the mention of god. That anthem was there before me.
Why is it that Christians feel such hatred towards the ones that do not follow their believes.
And I do admit , there are Atheists that act very childish and hateful towards Christians.
Why?Because they are human?Atheists and Christians alike.....
Sad , indeed.....

The truth is after recent comments of the sheikh saying something to the effect of "we must have at least 4 children to take over the country (Australia)", i'm pretty damn worried.

Did we all forget what happened at the corunna riots and who started it all? Did we all forget the sheikh calling Jews pigs? And now this...common people its slapping us in the face.

Its sounds crazy but the Israeli professor is looking pretty damn right, once they start taking control of our government we might lose our great country we grew up with.

(this is in no way a representative of all Muslims...im taking this from as having observed the leaders of the Muslim community who seems to have the power and respect to represent all Muslims. So if your gonna lash out saying im racist (which is completely out of context cause a religion is not a race) then please don't answer.)
