I think that it is evidence of the nature of sin in us, myself included.
Another evidence of sin in us is spiritual pride. It's something that causes us to look at another person and tell God, " Thank you for not making me like that person." Like the story of the Pharisee and the Publican that Jesus talked about. (maybe you should read that, it's in Luke 18. Reading it might tell you something about what you just wrote.)
But let's say that homosexuality is a mental illness- regardless of the loving kindness that we are supposed to have for others, why would you then take something like a sickness and treat someone poorly?
I guess thatwe can say pride is a mental illness too. If fact, the as I read through the Bible I find that spiritual pride is worse than any other sin. Because God has dealt with people on that matter and has found it the most difficult thing to break a person of. I hope that you don't have to go through all that.

Homosexuality is a sin and most sin could be defined as a mental illness since it is typically something the individual would prefer not to commit yet does it anyway.
Clearly, heterosexuality is the natural and logical choice when it comes to procreation; therefore, to choose to engage in an opposing form of sexuality is not the favorable choice in any natural sense.
The reason it can not clearly be defined as a mental condition is because humans have wisdom and reasoning different than that of animals that allows them to choose to do something regardless of desire, such as choosing to eat if hungry if one is on a diet they will opt not to eat. For this reason a person who chooses to engage in homosexual activity is responsible for their own actions.
The obvious analogy is if someone is angry at someone they must actively choose to hurt or even kill the individual, in the same manner a person must choose to be physically passionate with another or even have intercourse with them, the extreme being rape.

No. Homosexuality has not been considered a mental illness by the American Psychiatric Association since 1973, when they removed it from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
Homosexuality is a perfectly natural (as in, found in nature) sexual orientation that harms no one more than heterosexuality.
If you think you chose to be gay, then you're not gay. At the most, you are bi. Gay people do not choose to whom they are attracted. I know people who knew they were attracted to the same sex at the age of 6. It's not a choice.

No, albeit I deem it as an unnatural choice made by men and women for various logical and illogical reasons, and I deem all sexual choices as private individuals rights, so long as said choices do not harm others, and the fact remains that many men and women have chosen this type of sexual behavior since man walked the Earth... thus mental illness only comes into the picture for those that attempt to force such a choice upon others...

I think it is a preference not an illness. The bible says God loves everyone & that he forgives everyone for all their sins, & if you think homosexuality is a sin, then he forgives that as well.
so, if its okay with God, then who are you to complain & call it wrong & perverted. Also, if God did create us & everything then it is his fault that some people prefer partners of the same sex.
No doubt you will report this & I will get a violation notice but if you did not want my opinion, you should not have asked for it.

I think homosexuality is a choice that can be corrected with counseling and prayer. I think this because if there were only homosexuals the human race would soon be extinct. I also believe it is per the bible an abomination for a man to lie with a man or a beast.

I know homosexuality is perverted.
Look at it this way--humans are sinful, sinfulness is an illness and its symptoms manifest themselves in different ways in different people. For some it's homosexuality. For others pedophilia. For yet others it's murder.
And like any illness treating the symptoms is fruitless, so you have to go to the cause. That's where you believe on Christ. :)

Homosexuals live a lifestyle that is down right disgusting, despicable, and anti-human! I wish that they would just shut up and stop trying to make everybody "accept" them for "who they are"!!!
Their lifestyle is both wrong AND perverted!

I feel it is a mental illness because it is an abnormality. Many if not a majority of gays were abused at a young age. I have never met a gay person that wasn't abused during childhood. Child abuse can lead to many mental illnesses, Post Traumatic stress syndrome, Attachment disorders, Pedophilia, and others. Why not homosexuality?
If everyone were to become gay the human race would die off. I believe it fits the criteria for mental illness, although this isn't PC. However, I feel as if people have the right to do what they want, and that it is just another varied way of life.

This is a good way to get those loving right wing christians out from under their rocks. They should follow the lead of Jesus the Christ and not cast stones nor judge others. I am sure if you searched their closets you would find a few skeletons not to mention sex gadgets.
