No matter what, you'll never be as good of a person as someone else, and that you're not worthy to bask in their presence?

I'm talking about Jesus, by the way.

...Which is more helpful, to hear and respond to the truth, or to be told a bunch of lies to make you feel good? I'll take the truth, thank you. If we hear God's truth, then we can look to Him to save us, He will fix our lives, and help us to change as we ought to.
...Yours is a subjective question. You need to come to grips with the truth, and forget your feelings. How could anyone come up with any other conclusion - no one, but no one is perfect like Jesus. He is our example to follow.
...If you cannot/will not deal with the truth, that is not anyone's problem but yours.
...All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
...1 Corinthians 15:3-4: Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, He was buried, and He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
...We are not worthy of Him, but He loves us, died for us, and was raised for us, so we could have a relationship with Him, have eternal life, and assurance of Heaven right now. He has done everything necessary for our salvation. What good reason can you suggest for turning it down?
...The question is, what will you do with Jesus who is called Christ. He invites you to believe on Him and be saved
(Acts 16:31).
...Whosoever will, may come.

Like all things, this mentality in moderation can be very healthy. Have you ever met one of those people who is just so convinced of their own superiority that they feel completely justified in talking down to everyone they meet? The kind of individual that when denied something (anything) they grow truly angry and upset, feeling as though that denial was in some way a direct stroke against them? Take Justin Timberlake for instance--he verbally assaulted a fan when she expressed an opinion that another memeber of N*Sync was more attractive than Justin.

If people remember that no matter how good they get, there's always someone somewhere that's better, it keeps them humble. It keeps people appreciative of the talents the were born with, and of the skills they've developed over the years.

But as I said, moderation is the key word here. Falling too far into this mindset is indeed destructive, as the person is no longer merely humble but completely self-effacing.

Your question is very vague, however I'll try to answer.
Sounds to me like an abusive relationship. In answer to
tour question it's not good for your mental health to believe
that you're any less dignified, or capable of doing good
than anyone else. As far as being able to bask in their
presence, maybe it should be the other way around!
Don't let anyone fill your head with lies, because sooner or
later you're going to start believing them! Peace and God Bless

Whatever makes one motivated to be anything is what you should beleive in. Me, well, when I used to work over 8 hours a day, I reminded myself that there is such thing as Rocky Road Ice Cream. The goodness and skill level competition is heart breaking.

Actually, humility does work in the sense that it makes people impose their views (and actions) on others less. In many types of crime the perpetrator suffers from too much confidence, not too little.

Well, you're really not worthy to bask in my presence, but I agree it's not healthy to think that, so I let you think otherwise.

We will be as good as Jesus if we follow his ways and how he treated others, and this is perfectly good for our mental health and exactly what Jesus wants for us.

Its not good for your mental health; who the hell told you that? God, please tell me you aren't referring to a Christian......
Look, if you are, then I will tell you this:

God states in Scripture what He thinks about "holier than thou" hypocrites:

He says they are like a smoke that gets into your nostrils and burns the whole day long.
Do you know what you do with smoke that gets into your nostrils? You get rid of it.
God does not appreciate that crap, and neither should you.
