I read that, in history, Christians have collectively killed more ( ie: the crusades...) innocent people then both World Wars combined. Could someone please shed some light on whether or not this is true? And I don't want to hear from any of you that are going to make up facts purely for the sake of making your religion look good. I'm an educated man so save your saving for someone else.

I am a Christian myself, and I am gathering information to write an editorial to attempt to bridge a gap between Islam and Christianity. I am asking the reverse of this question as well (Christians views on Islam and Muslims), and would like to know views from around the world. Thanx!

P.S.
I will not attempt converting. I just want tolerance.

I am engaged to a wonderful man who has no "official" religion. We have a 15 month old daughter. I was informed that I was not going to be able to marry in the Catholic church because I have an illigetimate child. Our daughter was baptized 6 weeks after she was born and the priest (who will be marrying us) knew we weren't married, but intended to be. I want to be married in the Catholic church and will be heart broken if this statement was true. I have been unable to reach the priest for answers. Please help!!!

Where are the best places to meet such people? Besides the obvious, because the obvious doesn't seem to be working.

There was great controversy for years whether they dragged their tails, were warm or cold blooded, were just large reptiles, etc. And yet these ancient people depict dinosaurs in combat, etc. fully-fleshed, etc. How could the have known what they looked like if they hadn't seen them in life ??

Atheist: "All life is the work of god, it doesn't just happen by accident?"

Theist:; "Correct."

Atheist: "So god plans? He knows every life that was, is, and will be?"

Theist:: "Yes, god is omnscient. He exists outside of time and knows all."

Atheist: "Would god ever purposely create life simply to destroy it?"

Theist: "Possibly, perhaps to teach a person a lesson."

Athest: "So, god might allow a child to be conceived with a horrible birth defect, let it suffer in agony for a year, and then take it's soul to heaven? This sound cruel!"

Theist: "Well, human suffering is the price we pay for original sin. Also, god sometimes teaches people by exposing them to very difficult ordeals."

Atheist: "I see. The infant is just an innocent victim? Suppose the infant had been severely deformed Siamese twins?"

Theist: "Umm... well, double the lesson I guess. I dunno... god works in mysterious ways."

Atheist: "Mysterious planning to teach lessons? Fascinating."

Theist: "Uh, yeah."

Ok, right before I doze off I can hear people holding conversations with eachother. I believe in the Astral Plane and other things that might seem kinda out there to some people, so if you don't know anything about the astral plane, please don't answer :D Thankie you! <3

So anyway right before I fall asleep, in my subconcious, I can hear people talking with eachother, and I was wondering if this is people talking on the astral plane?

PS- I meditate alot, I am not on medication, I have never been on medication, I don't need medication (previous answers). I just want to know if I am listening to people on the astral plane?

reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity. Does anyone know how this works? I never took a logic course in college. Can faith be put through these tests?

I have dedicated my life (as an ex-Christian/Theologian) to bringing down religious myths of all types.

I had some JW's come over to witness to me and I listened and then was able to tell my part. After ten minutes, the "elder" sent one of the new guys back to the car.

After a half hour, I had them asking me question after question. After forty-five minutes, one was ready to quit the ministry.

It has been my dream, because it has been very difficult getting through to religious types. I feel like praising GOD or something. God! How I've longed for the day when people use reason as their source for every belief and will be able to see how delusion has held them captive.

This is hope for all Atheist/Agnostics out there who, like me, remain frustrated over the lack of reason that pervades Christianity, yet hold out for the hope that even those steeped in this quagmire can change!

TO those Christians who object to my use of "God" in my post, don't worry, it's not your God.

In the story of David and King Saul, twice Saul slept in a cave and David went up to him and took his things but didn't kill him. David wanted to prove to Saul that he was close enough to kill him but didn't because God anointed him. The Bible says that God made Saul sleep deeply so not to hear David.

God hardened the Pharoah's heart toward the end of the 10 plagues so he wouldn't let His people go.

This tells us that God has made certain do certain things for certain reasons. Does this mean that God has and can mess with our free-wills? We have free-wills but these things happened according to God's will. Why did He make the Pharoah's heart harden and made King Saul sleep deeply?

And how can I tell when an event that happens in my life is due to my will or God's will? I am looking for faith based answers from Christians. I am Catholic. Thank you!
