... than do "believers".

What's up with that?

Actually, atheists just THINK they know more. Knowing all sort of things about something doesn't mean they have any true knowledge of a practicing faith. It's sort of like explaining the color blue to a blind person or music to a deaf person.

I equate it to a scene in 48 hours. Nick Nolte's police captain just starts screaming at him for trusting Eddie Murphy. Nick Nolte gets mad and makes this big speech supporting Eddie Murphy. The police captain freezes for a moment, then yells, "Just 'cause you say it with conviction it don't mean spit to me (cleaned up)."

I have found that many speak with great conviction, but it still doesn't mean they have a clue. Sorry.

Some atheists have probably done some study that has resulted in a rejection of religion. However I find most postings on here as ridiculous and narrow-minded as the religious ones. Maybe you personally "like" the atheist standpoint better?

Forgive me if I regurgitate something someone else has already said...

Atheists may SEEM to know more about religion in general for the reasons others have listed. They are curious, confused, lonely in a spiritual sense, and want to be part of something bigger than themselves, like we all do. For some reason or another they are jaded, skeptical, or have been "turned off" of religion by some negative experience.

Unfortunately, they cannot comprehend religion outside of black and white print, nor do they often take enough time to cross-reference sources to get a more complete picture of scriptural messages. They instead prefer to take solitary verses and quote them out of context in attacks against believers.

There may be a more insidious reason behind the false religious knowledge of atheists. Deception is like bad medicine. "A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down," right Ms. Poppins? Well, a helping of half-truths makes lies much easier to swallow. By this I mean to say that the false knowledge possessed by many atheists make their arguments against faith effective in leading weak believers astray. Just another one of Satan's tools.

I have noticed that atheists on this site, in general, seem to be ignorant of the actual content of Scripture, the original languages, variant readings, and the actual opinions of religious scholars. They also seem to lack a basic understanding of history, as well as the ability to differentiate the simplest logical categories.

That having been said, the atheists still seem to have a better grasp of their subject matter than the "believers."

The atheists may know more and the believers may know less; and all may get lost in the vast ocean the Internet news.
The essence of the human life and what is beneficially relating to it will decide the future of this world.

Are you saying that the Agnostics are "chopped liver" or something ? Must find it rather difficult to remain superior in such a mediocre world ???

Atheist have often looked in to different religions. More often they were religious at one point. For me learning about other religions is what did it. However this is to general of a question if you ask me.

Atheists probably know more about religions than believers do. Believers know about, trust and accept Jesus Christ, who is not a religion but, instead a relationship.

Religion is man's way of controlling other people with rules and regulations and trying to please their god with human abilities.

Jesus is God's way of reaching down to man with His love and grace.

Satan knows the scriptures well. There is more to knowing about God than knowledge. Wisdom and acceptance of His word and ways is what is necessary.

Believers aren't willing to become educated because (yes I've actually heard people say this on here) "Its against god".

Most Atheists would never dream of that.

Faith requires no research. It is not unheard of for a man to 'study himself atheist'. Sir Isaac Newton was a devout young man who wanted to further discern God's plans by studying how the natural world worked. He lost his faith in Christ by the time he was old. His research and studies of the Bible and other texts led him to conclude that Christ was not God.
