From my experience, when the penny dropped (I was about 15) I felt extremely angry that I'd been fed all this rubbish as a child and had taken it seriously. I honestly believed I was some kind of sinner throughout my childhood.
Children are unable to make up their own minds about such things. Should people wait until they're mature enough to decide for themselves before introducing them to religion?
Do you think they would accept it at that age?

I know the verse had nothing to do with diet and exercise.

Why can we not just have fun laughing at ourselves?

Makes sense to me. Although it probably wouldn't be a problem if it were aardvark radiation instead.

How is that working out for you? Worshipping Kami?

Kami answer your prayers?

Shinto (神道, shintō?) is the native religion of Japan and was once its state religion. It involves the worship of kami (神, kami?), gods. Some kami are local and can be regarded as the spiritual being/spirit or genius of a particular place, but other ones represent major natural objects and processes: for example, Amaterasu, the Sun goddess, or Mount Fuji. Shinto is an animistic belief system. The word Shinto was created by combining two kanji: "shin" (神, "shin"?), meaning gods or spirits (when read alone, it is pronounced "kami"); and "tō" (道, "tō"?), meaning a philosophical way or path (originally from the Chinese word dao. As such, Shinto is commonly translated as "The Way of the Gods".

unsolicited advice to me? The church invitations, the sneaky insults, the kind arguing, all because I don't share their religious convictions? Yesterday I spent 30 minutes arguing with a man at my retail job who insisted on reading scripture to me becauses I "have such a pretty smile" and " he could see that I have a "good soul". I would never insult anyone that way. How do I put a stop to this line of attack in a way that's not rude?

I haven't seen a single attack on agnostocism or shinto or budhism at all in 2007,

but you can't go five minutes without seeing an attack on atheists or christians or muslims,

not one attack on hindus. Sometimes paggans and wiccans too are attacked,

but not one attack on judism (for obvious reasons, say one thing about a jew you get labeled a natsi).

Whats up with that?

Why never an attack on shinto or budhism or hinduism or agnostocism?

Huh?

Why don't you answer me that, yahoo answers people

Why did Jesus want us to be unhealthy?

Jesus said that it is not what goes into a man's mouth that defiles him.

That is absolutely false. Everybody knows that trans fats defile your arteries and can lead to heart attacks. Also a diet low in fiber can lead to colon cancer.

Paul says that we must live by faith and not works.

That, too, is absolutely false. Faith doesn't lower your cholesterol and make your heart and muscles stronger. Faith doesn't help prevent osteoporosis. Working out does.

I swear that my MacMillan nurse and others like her are angels sent on earth to help very sick people. She is so calm, so gentle and understanding and has an ethereal quality about her. Do you think angels truly exist amongst us sent from heaven to help mere mortals or am I just being too imaginative?

But then, I'm not American. Whats your opinion as a US citizen?
