False religion. The Israelite people and their conduct as they fell away from worshipping Jehovah on a small scale and Babylon the Great (of which Christendom is the most detestable part) in a larger prophetic sense. The reason that he is so unhappy with her is because she has claimed to represent him and instead is misleading people away from him and into destruction. God wants all people to survive yet he will not force them to take the course of action which will enable them to do so.

Many christain have been mislead into doing the same Idol worship that Israel was thrown out and dispelled from the promise land which is a Phyisical to Spiritual paralell to YAHWEH' KINGDOM on EARTH!

God is referring to the people in the city of Jerusalem. The people have taken up idol worship and the religion of the land to which they moved and forgotten YHWH (God).
