Several times over the last few months I have pointed to videos or other links and fundies have said "as soon as I saw that was Dawkins, or Sam Harris, or atheist propaganda, or whatever ..." I refused to watch.

I have watched/read dozens of fundie christian Web sites. I am not scared that the facts will be challenged.

Is it easier to challenge faith than the facts?

I mean, you can't say that we know what's right and wrong, cuz we don't. Everybody has a different opinion and they go against eachother. Only one set of guidelines can be true. I've heard before that you can do whatever you'd like as long as you sincerely believe it's okay. That's crazy... I mean, what if an ax-murderer comes up to you and says, "I sincerely believe it's okay to chop your head off." I mean, if you stay true your your belief, you have to say, "okay, fine with me." Or what about the one that says it's okay as long as no one gets hurt. In others words, "yeah, go ahead and steal my life savings and everything in my house. Just make sure nobody gets hurt." So, how do we know... I need to know.

Doesn't religion creates a world where facts become interchangeable with opinions, where lies become true?

it seems most people agree that purgatory is made up mostly because it's no where in the bible. a lot of people will say the same about the rapture, it's not in the bible-it's made up-and it was made up long after the bible was written. so why believe in one and not the other, or why believe it at all if it's not in the bible?

i'm not trying to stir up trouble, i really would like to know your thoughts..that's why i'm here.

Using the Danish cartoons of Muhammed published a few months ago as an example; can any Muslim murder the disrespector or blasphemer on his own or does some cleric scholar have to issue a fatwa before it is "legal" to murder the offender?

The oil wells in the middle east, I mean.

When all those countries that have squandered all their money on making their leaders live like billionaires run out of oil and they're left killing each other in the desert with AK-47's and the rest of the world moves on to other power sources will the West breathe a big sigh of relief?

i hear people talk of free will and how it's one of gods gifts. on the other hand if something bad happens due to a bad choice you've made, it can be blamed on the devil's temptation. who's will is it? your's, god's or satan's? and is it really free?

In the past, I have asked questions regarding the laws requiring stoning for nearly any transgression, ranging from not keeping the Sabbath to adultery (these are in Leviticus and Exodus, I believe). I get a flood of answers to the effect that "that is the old covenant, christ offered the new covenant." Upshot: all that unpleasantness can be ignored.

YET. All the admonisments about homosexuality are also in Leviticus and Exodus, but THOSE are still valid.

What's going on here. If the OT is to be ignored, than so can the crap about homosexuality.

AND NO. Just so I don't get a bunch of stupid comments, I am not gay. I happen to be, if anything, sinfully straight, thank you (not that there's anything wrong with being gay!).
