Catholicism has been around for 2000 years studying these issues. Are you saying that other Christian sects, many of which have been around less than a century, but none no more than 400 years, are so knowledgable as to know better than Catholics what the bible says?

Yes, I'm sorry it is.
1 Corinthians chapter 6 verse 9 states this:
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor prostitutes nor homosexuals, nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
But it's nothing that God can't help a person with. He wants us to come to him "as we are".
Sorry but venial and mortal only means something if you're catholic which I'm not. That's why I didn't address that part of your question. In the bible there is no "venial" or "mortal" sins. To God they're all the same.
I don't want to hurt your feelings. There's alot to tell you that I don't have room to write. I was born and raised catholic and went to catholic school. Many things the church teaches are wrong, many are not in the bible and many are made up by popes. All I can tell you is mortal and venial sins are nowhere in the bible. Jesus said, "Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer." God bless you.

Is homosexuality a sin according to the Bible? Yes That said; See 2 Samuel 1:26 and decide if David and Jonathan were 'intimate'. Then see 1 Samuel 16:7 (i.e. man sees who, what, when, where, and how; but God also sees why).

Gnosis is correct, but I would like to add to it.
Sexual activity of ANY kind outside of marriage is a mortal sin.
Love is not a sin, but how we express that love may lead a person to sin.
The difference in veniel and mortal sin has more to do with our attitude and the hardness of our heart than how God sees things. A person may suffer a small lapse in holiness when he or she gossips about another person. The same person would have to be pretty cold hearted and unmoved by the love of God in order to commit murder.
If you want to see a Biblical example of mortal and veniel sin, consider God's punishment of the Israelites. I am sure that the israelites, like us, sinned every day in small ways, yet it was only when they started worshipping other gods that God sent them into exile.

It is a mortal sin. God created marriage between a man and woman not two men or two women. Also just because your a homosexual doesn't mean you need to act on it. It's all about self control. As to your fate in the afterlife that is for God to decide.

I'm pretty sure it's stated in the Bible that homosexual intercourse is a sin in the eyes of the christian God. However, so far I haven't heard that it says homosexuality without homosexual intercourse is a sin, and besides the christian God almost certainly doesn't exist.

I don't really care what the bible says about it being a sin. It isn't and the bible is wrong about many many many many many things. Homosexuality is about as normal as it is that you have to eat food to live and have children to pass on your genes. Its a genetic mutation but its still normal. Even animals can be homosexual.

Sin is sin in the eyes of God. There's no such thing as a 'venial' or a 'mortal' sin. That's a catholic thing....man made and dead wrong. My proof throughout scripture....read it all and you'll see for yourself.

To be a Homosexual is not a sin as such,to engage in homosexual activity is a mortal sin and cuts us off from a life in God`s holy spirit.

It is normal to feel affection for someone of the same sex. It is perversion to express that affection sexually. The Almighty gave men a great gift in love sex and marriage. If you take it apart, you destroy it! Scripture consistently teaches that Salvation leads to obedience of YHVH's directions.
