Several times over the last few months I have pointed to videos or other links and fundies have said "as soon as I saw that was Dawkins, or Sam Harris, or atheist propaganda, or whatever ..." I refused to watch.
I have watched/read dozens of fundie christian Web sites. I am not scared that the facts will be challenged.
Is it easier to challenge faith than the facts?

Papadego: Can't you see the supreme irony of your statement. That question is a take-off on one of the most common Christian questions here in YA! But, it's not offensive when they say "Atheists: Why do you keep you eyes shut to the fact of God?" LMAO!

The essential problem with fundamentalist Christians is that they don’t arrive at their beliefs through rational inquiry. They subscribe to their belief system because of the strength of tradition within their families or communities or out of a strong emotive need to believe. All apologetic literature that you see coming from fundamentalist Christians, are merely given as a pretext of rationality, they are not genuine endeavors to think rationally about their faith.
You simply cannot challenge their faith with facts, because their faith is based on just that – FAITH! It isn’t so much that they fear what Sam Harris or Richard Dawkins have to say as much as they dismiss it outright because of the very notion that what they say deals with factual statements. To them credulity is a virtue, not a vice. To believe without seeing, or without proving, is considered the highest ideal. They take Christ’s admonishment seriously that: “ I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18:2-3).
They wear childlike gullibility like a badge of honor. It is that badge that makes them immune to change. Don’t feel disheartened. You might not be able to reach the fundamentalist, but to those who are straddling the fence, the eloquence and cogency of Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris, can be pivotal in forming their worldview. Keep citing their work and make it known to more people.

God does not tempt with evil. The devil does. you're able to watch the way you accuse. in view which you're able to be very on the element of blaspheming the Holy Spirit. clever up until eventually now its too previous due. there is not any way that the international might properly be sin loose. And Christians comprehend that. incredibly standard Christians. Its in easy terms obvious which you don't comprehend sufficient approximately Christianity to make such accusations. Or ask such questions. Its called the misinformed misinforming others with questions that don't edify what real Christianity is. it kind of feels which you will in easy terms receive the solutions which you extremely desire from people who're the two misinformed or comprehend no longer something in any respect on the subject of the real be conscious of God. Sin is what separates us from God. Christ got here to eliminate the sins of the international that separated us from the Almighty Holy God. It looks such as you do no longer desire Christ to maintain you from going to hell. you assert that your loose will is your sin and you do no longer desire it to be taken away. If that's what you like then that's what you're turning out to be. In hell. Its actual basic to assert some Christians whether it does not upload any credibility on your source.

It's because a lot of people use language that is offensive. As an example, I will use a "question" that someone asked the other day, "Why do Christians keep their eyes closed to the fact that there is no God?". I think that that's very offensive, no wonder they act like what they do.

It is easier to challenge the faith. Faith is the effect of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. The facts will always be challenged and so will the faith, which, to me is the fact. Stay strong in the faith and don't let anything sway you. We both know God is coming back. Will He find us faithful?

I'm not scared at all, I just assumed that the "hell whatever" meeting you were talking about had something to do with Dawkins, and I know I've never seen him speak, so I didn't bother to watch the video.
Why, was it something else?
Oh gracious, fine, I'll go watch the silly thing. I just thought you were asking if we had ever seen Dawkins speak, and since I hadn't, I didn't need to watch the video to answer that.
EDIT- Okay I watched it, my comments on your other question.
See? Not scared at all. That wacko "pastor" ranks right up there with Becky Fischer in my book.

This is one Catholic who's tried to match wits with a particularly brilliant Jesuit priest, and trust me, different viewpoints are not frightening to me. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the debate.

I don't come in here asking you to go to others site to get information that I want to give you. If you have an argument be intelligent enough to state it without having to go to other sources to read what you believe.. Don't you know what you believe? Do you have to have other peoples words in your mouth.. If you do then you should reevaluate what it is you hold to be truth... Jim

They are afraid that they would have the smallest seed of doubt sewn and then they would lose the faith that means so much to them. You really can't blame them. Sometimes that faith is all they have.
