I know you think we DO have free will, but imagine for a moment that we don't.

We actually don't have free will at all.

Did you choose to write this question or was this question forced upon you?
--My brain chose to write this question and it was forced to based upon it's previous state and sensory input. So in reality it's both. I chose to write it AND it was forced upon me.

Did you choose to write this question or was this question forced upon you? Did someone take your hands physically and cause you to type it into a computer? I don't think so. We have the ability to choose what we are going to do, the choice to get in the car and drive safely or drive too fast, possibly causing an accident. We have the choice to eat or not to eat, which would eventually cause death. Your statement that we do not have free will is false.

However, if we had no free will, Adam and Eve would never have sinned, therefore Jesus would never have had to bear our sins upon the cross. The world would be a paradise and all mankind would worship God. However, God wanted people to choose to worship Him. What would you want, someone who loves you just as you are or someone that had no choice but to love you?

If we had no free will (which we do) then we would be compelled to follow God genetically. There would be no religion, as we would have no choice in the method of worship we wanted. There would be probably only a million peeps on the planet, maybe a bit more, as anymore cannot be supported by the planet comfortably.

But we do have free will, we can choose to follow the beautiful path God laid out for us, or we can assume we know better than the creator and try to do it our own way (notice that isn't working well lol)

Yours is a philosophical rather than a religious question, and it's not Calvinism either. Free will in the theological sense has to do with the ability to seek out and choose God, and the Bible is quite clear on no one having the ability to seek him.

No one can come to the Savior unless the Father draws him.
God is sovereign.
Obedience is where the free will comes in. When it comes to obedience, there MUST be free will since our obedience would become meaningless otherwise.

Thank you for posing the question as you have. I got a great sermon idea.
