The oil wells in the middle east, I mean.

When all those countries that have squandered all their money on making their leaders live like billionaires run out of oil and they're left killing each other in the desert with AK-47's and the rest of the world moves on to other power sources will the West breathe a big sigh of relief?

Yes and no. It's going to help...a lot....but the mid-east is also important geographically. It's the merging point of three continents....and obviously the trade routes are important. There will always be some commerce from that source. The Saudis are so well invested, it's going to take them a little while to squader the money they do have saved. At that point they go from former nomads on camals to modern nomads in Mercedes, and go back to nomads in something in between. Like chevettes.

Some of the countries actually do have an industrial base. Iraq used to....Iran still does.

I think...and I might be being idealistic here...the state that eventually becomes the 2nd Palestine (people always forget there is a Palestine...Jordan) will be succesful. The Palestinian arabs are far more western and educated then most of their cousins in other nations. That's part of the reason none of the other nations took them in......they're all terrified of them.

I think it will make things far worse. We in America are probably the most oil-dependent nation in the world. We are also the most powerful military, and we don't like having to conserve things or live without "comforts" (I say this about Americans as a group, not each individual citizen). I think that war will explode worldwide, and that we will be at the front of it.

i do no longer think of we are able to ever see WWIII. the international is in panic mode, and have confidence me this is been worse. The deal is that we've the media to hype each and every thing up. there is often been hassle in the midsection east, and this is not getting to any extent further desirable. this is unhappy that we are so wrapped up in Iraq that now we are able to't be lots of a help to the the remainder of the international. i do no longer understand that there is a non violent determination, there will be tension. this is the only way it relatively is often solved, this is been allowed to bypass too a great way.

Long before oil, wars were fought. But your question asks will the world be MORE peaceful? Maybe, but man has always found something to fight over.

The Arabs will then be coming cap in hand to the west. The oil cannot run out fast enough.

It's not oil we are fighting for, it's religion.
