I asked people on here to choose between
A)going to heaven when you die
or
B)curing every single disease and virus that will ever harm mankind for the rest of eternity, but when you die you simpy cease to exist. YOU DO NOT GO TO HELL

.....Does it surprise you that 44% of the people that responded said they would choose heaven over helping the entire human race? (20 out of 45)

Check out the answers I received: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvMCeiLwgcV4u47HTAEr7ojsy6IX?qid=20070215203842AAp3vjQ

"Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids." Leviticus 25:44

Question: Why can my slaves only be heathens? What if one of my slaves converts? What if he converted only as a ruse? Can I declare him still a heathen?
Also: Can I broaden the term "heathen" to include atheists? If I had a few atheist slaves I could sure teach them a thing or two!

Replies from church people appreciated. Also from scholars and people who fear God and always knew slavery isn't so bad.

Also: The law of God trumps civil law, anyone who loves the Lord knows that -- so laws against slavery are false. I defy anyone to show me otherwise.

And don't give me any legalistic jargon -- I know the word of God!

I am a Christian. I seek your knowledge of how to be a better Christian and strengthen what is strong. I am a singer/songwriter of Gospel music and feel God's hand in my life. I also feel that He wants me to minister in some way, but I have never been baptised, even though I have accepted Christ as my Saviour! Please advise me on what I should be doing to reach my best potential at being a good Christian.

Every calendar I look at has Sunday as the first day, and Saturday as the seventh day.

There's a lot of confusion about this, so I wanted to see how many weird calendars people have and who publishes them.

Without a prophet (as their personal Lord and Savior), they are all utterly doomed to succumb to a fiery-inferno of perpetually agonizing torment - like all non-believers are.

I am sincerely concerned, Christians. This is not an obvious "fake" question (is this not apparent?). Again, this isn't a question aimed at any mockery or heathendom. I emphasize this so.

Again, I emphasize this (for extra emphasis on emphasizing it thrice).

One would expect a book written by an omniscient being could contain an insight of mathematics that, even after 2000 years would be the most fundamental insight in math that people had ever known. Instead the Bible gets the value of Pi wrong in two places (I Kings 7:23-26 and II Chronicles 4:2-5). Even the ancient Greeks and Egyptians managed to figure out the correct value of Pi. How do those holding the Bible as an errantly inspired document deal with that?

It is frightening to me that I could have gone along with mindless acceptance my entire life. But that's the way the world often is. Ignorance blooms and flourishes.

Do you seek truths or do you accept without common sense.?

Do you think that all of the problems going on with the government and with the enviorment is God's way of telling us that we need to fix the world and start with a new clean slate? I mean, think about it, he is supposed to be a savior, and maybe we messed up so bad, he is telling us we got to start over?

The gnostics believe in the power of reasoning and intellect. Think! If you pay homage to a vengeful, mean god, what's that doing to your soul? Your behavior will reflect what you believe in, emulating what you worship and adhere to. You become a reflection of the god you adore, the god that you love. If your soul needs to fear, to hate, to be vengeful, and to worry about hellfire and damnation, than you worship the wrong god. You are then creating a vengeful, jealous god inside of you as well as outside of you.

I hope you will drop that strange god.

Your book correctly says about us chosen people that

2 "I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you, and make your name great. You will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. In you will all of the families of the earth be blessed."
Gen. 12:2-3

Yet later on J**** curses the Jewish people in the vilest way

I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan Revelation 2:9-10, 3:9.

Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Matthew 23:27-33.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him...ye therefore hear them not,
because ye are not of God. John 8:39-47

Doesnt that mean he is cursed ( lol)?

i have heard many prayers from christians in my short time on terra firma (22 revolutions around the sun by the the earth, to be exact), and i have heard many prayers that when i heard them i thought, "jesus has starving people in darfur, homeless in india, etc, why the heck would he even care to give you the time to hear about your want to have//feel/whatever??? "

i think it's time for chrisians to give jesus a vacation... and im proposing the week after his birthday.. the guy knows what's going on in the world, he doesn't need people to report back to him about every little detail in our life 52 weeks out of his year (and we all know our years are based upon him).. let him enjoy the holidays and watch the bowl games like we all do, and just let the man have a chance to relax.. doesn't he deserve that? i mean, i know all that he gave christians was an opportunity to spend eternity in heaven, but still?/?

Native Americans believe that the Creator wanted them to live in harmony with all creation. And created everything they needed to survive in the natural world.

The Middle Eastern ledgends describe a jealous God who demanded animal sacrifices, and who later sent his Son to earth to be sacrificed.

It seems to me that the American Indian Creator is more loving.

With this question, I am making an assumption that the Bible actually could have been God's words passed on to a person. (Which I don't believe.)

What if God was trying to explain something, such as how the world was created, but the author did not have the necessary background knowledge and vocabulary to fully understand what God was telling him? Perhaps the Big Bang theory holds true and God was trying to explain that. But without knowledge of something like atoms, the author would have a difficult time comprehending. For example, that would be like someone explaining quantum physics to a 10 year old (assuming the 10 year old has not learned the necessary science and math concepts to understand yet.) And then asking the 10 year old to write down what was explained, because it would be very important to the rest of man kind. I'm sure the child would do his best and may be able to grasp a few concepts, but would probably miss the boat on the majority of it.

There was a Christian man named George Muller.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Muller

He started many orphanages and told God he wouldn't ask people for money, that he'd rely on faith alone and never solicite a penny . And he never did and he ended up with 5 orphanages and alot of money in the bank for them when he died. It wasn't easy. He had rough times but he just trusted the Lord and God blessed him.

Allow me to start , mine , is islam,
The fundamental beliefs of Islam can be summed up as follows:

1.Belief in the oneness and unity of God. This entails belief in God as the one and only Creator, Cherisher, and Sovereign Lord of the entire universe.

2.Belief in God's angels. Angels are spiritual beings who are engaged in glorifying God and doing His bidding.

3.Belief in the Scriptures (revelations) that contain God's communications to His prophets and messengers. Among the scriptures are [the original] Torah, [the original] Gospel, and finally the Qur'an, which confirms and preserves intact the pristine, perennial religion revealed to all of God's prophets and messengers.

4.Belief in prophets and messengers. These were message bearers from God, who called mankind unto God; they were ideal Muslims (i.e., they submitted themselves wholly and totally to the will of their Lord).

5.Belief that both good and bad are decreed by God, as He alone is in charge of the universe.
