The gnostics believe in the power of reasoning and intellect. Think! If you pay homage to a vengeful, mean god, what's that doing to your soul? Your behavior will reflect what you believe in, emulating what you worship and adhere to. You become a reflection of the god you adore, the god that you love. If your soul needs to fear, to hate, to be vengeful, and to worry about hellfire and damnation, than you worship the wrong god. You are then creating a vengeful, jealous god inside of you as well as outside of you.

I hope you will drop that strange god.

The One that doesn't make me buy/earn my way into heaven. The God that created the universe and had respect for his creation, giving us free will. The heavenly Father that has unconditional love. Who loves his children even when they are too spiritually young to walk gracefully or even crawl. The God that is Fatherly, spiritual and self sacrificing (Trinity).

If I am traveling to a place where other Gods are worshiped, I will be respectful. Hospitality doesn't just apply to guests at ones dinner table. There are some Pantheons I have no problem honouring on occasion. For instance, the Welsh Gods and a couple of the Irish Gods fall into this category. I don't go out of my way to honour them; but if I enter a situation where they are being honoured, then I don't think twice about joining in. There are also other Pantheons and Deities that I would have a problem honouring. Examples include: Hellenic Gods, Gods of Chaos, Monotheistic Gods, Egyptian Gods, and pretty much all the rest. In this situation I would be respectful towards them because I am at their place, but I would not worship them. I would do what is expected and customary for the place I am at, or the ritual I am attending. In answer to your token example, If an offering of a token was proper etiquette, then I would offer an appropriate token. Asking is the best way to figure out what that token may be. They are not my Gods and I do not know them, to worship them would be rude to both them and my own Gods in my opinion. Similarly, to not do what is expected and customary is disrespectful to them and my Gods as well.

I see you have read through Genesis with an uncluttered mind.
But I'm afraid you're preaching to deaf ears.

Humans have always made gods in their own image, and the male chauvinists have been able to persuade the other half of humanity for millenia that theirs is the only possible view of god and the world.

I myself am a pagan and worship God the Mother first among many of her daughters and sons.

I pay homage to the Living God, the Lord Jesus Christ, who came into my life when I hated Him, and transformed me from a damned fool and a son of hell to a child of the Living God. I'm not talking doctrine I'm talking reality and 36 years of living proof.

I pay homage to the God that is; He seeks us, as we seek Him--He gives us each life that we might learn and grow closer to Him, eventually becoming enlightened and worthy of Him.
