A religious liberal, or a atheist Conservative?

2007-02-15 07:28:12 · 15 answers · asked by Anonymous

If a parent tells a child something or to do something&the child refused to do it cuase he/she didnt completely understand;the child understands enough to do what he/she was asked,but theres other things the child is curious about;if the child refused to do what he/she was asked would there not be problems between the child&the parent?Just cuase the child wants to know more&the parents not gonna tell the child right then,should the child still ot do what he/she was told?Is that not what God is asking that we be obedien to His word&as we're obedient&faithful He will slowly reveal more to us?

Luke 8:18-Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

This question is for grown ups. 20 and over. so I dont get answers like my parents are. I want to know if you have researched your religion other than the bible and I want you to tell me why you believe what you believe. Keep an open mind with this question and I will keep and open mind (as always) with your answers.

I'm so tired of her trying to squelch religious organizations because of her personal liberal agenda. If you aren't aware of what I'm talking about......you will know soon. Especially if you're a fan of radio shows like 'Focus on the Family' or 'The 700 Club' or 'Jay Sekulow Live'

Keep watching the news......

She cannot silence christians no matter how hard she tries.

And before you get all up in arms about this post just remeber....
Technically, I asked a question.

.....or some other form of a god before GOD? I suppose I should say " The Jesus that we have been presented with". I say this, because It does not appear to be Jesus's wish to step in between us and GOD. It does not appear that Jesus is claiming that the only way to get into Heaven is by ggiving HIM your soul (despite that ginchy little quote that all the Christians love so much). It doesn't appear to be Jesus's wish to reform the Old Testament or the religion that is based on it. If anything, it appeared to be Jesus's wish to live his life in a way that was pleasing to GOD. He did not conduct himself like a leader of men. He behaved more like a healer and a counsilor. If he really wanted the New Testament to be made, why didn't he write it himself? If he really wanted the Christian Church to be formed, why didn't he do it himself? After all, a house divided....

"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

"While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:17, 18

I'm afraid to get into a serious relationship, always thinking what if...religion get's in between? We have fun, and things function just fine. I never had relationship like this and I'm not super religious, however I do celebrate xmas and easter and that's it. He's not extrem in his religion either. Good thing is that country that we live in doesn't make strong influence on our religions, it's not forcing one or another.
I would like to hear some advices or experiences from similar situation.
Thanks!

When you study history and see that almost everything in your religion is borrowed from more ancient beliefs. It must be really disheartening.
