A cult is a
Obsessive, especially faddish, devotion to or veneration for a person, principle, or thing.
The object of such devotion.

A cult doesn't last very long.
Usually they are dedicated to the end of the world,or a particular weird devotion towards rocks. Many of them will not let their non church members relations even talk to them anymore, let alone share in church services. It's all very secret and hush hush.

Christianity was called "The Way" by the Jews for awhile. Since it has lasted 2000 years its way past cult status, just like Judaism and Mohammedism is.. now Hindu and Buddist are philosphies we could go back to the dictionary for that definition :-)

With all due respect to Websters, one thing not stated, but alluded to in item #3 of the definition, is that a cult is a religion based on a false teaching.

If any religion is correct, and no more than 1 can be correct, that religion could not be considered a cult. However, if all are wrong, then you and webster are right.

Whatever helps someone deal with their life is fine, as long as it doesn't interfer with my rights or hurt someone else. I am happy being a skeptic, I sleep better at night.

No it's not. But a lot of cults hide under the umbrella of Christianity to disguise their own agenda. Learn the difference.

P.S.
No one cares what you think!
