If he is truly a god, then it would seem logical that he could come up with a better way to alleviate the 'sins' of the people he created than to throw his son in the mix and have him brutally killed (isn't that a sin in itself?).

I can't make sense of this and quoting the bible will not help. I'd rather get your thoughts about it rather than a quote from a person 2000 years ago.

I see muslims take an incredible amount of hate from Christians everyday, and thread mentioning Islam reels in countless condemning Christians, these people rarely give it back either. This is just one example. And yet, Christians, who are the ones condemning all others, not just on these forums, but it is a fine example, are the ones who make 100-200 posts a day complaining they are being persecuted. Is this odd to anyone else?

Maybe Jesus has already returned...people just aren't searching hard enough...He did say that he would return like a thief in the night and that the ones who's hearts are really open and prepared will find Him...has everyone missed the big event? What do you think...just a thought...i'm not trying to bash anyone or change anyones thinking

Does anyone use meditation to deal with chronic pain? What exactly do you do? I have done a little meditation before, but not much. Are there specific exercises you use, and if so, what are they? How frequently and for how long do you meditate, or how frequently is it reccomended? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had an experience about 8 years ago- I am not a religious person but no mistake it was beyond logical thought. I try to tell family & friends and they look a bit confused. I just would like to hear from anyone who had a life changing moment that could not be explained.

This is not to offend anyone... I am thoroughly convinced that we all have souls, so what do atheists believe happen to our souls when we die? I was just wondering.

Ratio of thoughtful answers to sarcastic zingers: it seems to have dropped to about 1:10. Is that bad? Is it a sign I'm spending way too much time here and getting jaded?

BELIEFS AND CUSTOMS OF WICCA
Not every Wiccan will subscribe to all of these points, but
generally they are representative.

1. The divine Spirit is present in all creatures and things: people, animals, plants, stones...
2. The ultimate creative force manifests in both feminine and masculine modes; therefore it is often symbolized as the Goddess and The God.
3. In some covens, both are celebrated equally. In others, The Goddess is given precedence or even celebrated without reference to the God.
4. All Goddesses and Gods are aspects of The Goddess and The God. The aspects most popular in Wicca are the Triple Goddess of the Moon (Maiden, Mother and Crone) and the Horned God of death and rebirth.
5. Reincarnation and karma are valid concepts. Upon death one goes to a state of rest and reflection, and eventually chooses where and when s/he will be reborn.
6. Magick is practiced for positive (helping) purposes: spiritual development, healing, guidance, safety, etc.
7. Rituals are generally performed outdoors when possible, at the
New and Full Moons, and at eight Sabbat festivals which mark the
progression of the seasons.
8. Magick and celebration are performed in small groups, usually
3 to 13, called covens. These are basically autonomous -- there
is no central church authority or hierarchy.
9. There is no holy book, or prophet, no equivalent of the Bible
or Jesus or Mohammed. Individuals have access to the divine, and
do not require an intermediary. Every initiate is regarded as a
priest/ess.
10. The central ethic is "And ye harm none, do as ye will."
Whatever energy you send out returns threefold, so it is wise to
be kind to others.
11. We should live in harmony with the Earth and Nature, and not
exploit them.
12. Though Wicca is a valid spiritual path, it is not the only
one. There is no recruiting, and people should be free to choose
the path that best fits their needs.
13. The concepts of original sin, sacrifice, redemption,
Šconfession, the divinity of Jesus, sinfulness of sex, Judgment,
Heaven and Hell, denigration of women, bodily resurrection, and
the Bible as divine revelation are not part of Wicca. Neither are
Satanism, the Black Mass, desecration of cemeteries, the sacrifice
of animals, etc.

This mexican guy I know, he's been drinking everyday for decades, it seems. He's drunk all day, everyday. He barely eats. He's 53 now. His eyes are yellow, and his complexion is overall decrepit-looking. I'd imagine his liver is progressively, but slooooowly failing too. He doesn't want to quit drinking, and his family (and myself) are obviously worried that he won't be around much longer. And this isn't the first time I've known a guy (who was also an older mexican fellow) to die from liver failure, from drinking too. Are alcoholics just hopeless cases? They have to want to quit, but this guy doesn't want to quit, and telling him that he's going to die seems obsolete, 'cause it's falling on deaf ears. Doesn't want to attend AA, either.

I mean constantly we see Christians quoting bible verses as if they are going to magically turn a light bulb on in our heads. I mean Atheists know the bible better then most Christians do. I have a verse from a book with a better message lets see if it has the same effect.
"Thats not a ghost. Thats a cowboy! Laughed the policeman.
" Thats not a cowboy. That's a monkey!" giggled the Princess
" That's not just any monkey," said betsy. It's Curious George!"
Everyone Clapped and Cheered, They Liked George's Halloween Trick.

Does that do anything for ya?

Hello, I am a freemason, knight templar... I am well read through most western and eastern religion/philosophy books. Yet, I would like to learn more about metaphysics and mysticism. I realize that the journey is within as much or more than out. Does anyone know of a group, book, or system that is not focused on "dues" or membership fees?
