Angels are further proof of the symbolic nature of the Bible. Just as a King had his courtiers, the early Prophets and Jewish priests wove the imagery of a heavenly court into their descriptions of God, although attitudes towards them have varied over the years (early on in Christianity, Angel worship was a rival cult). The conflation of Samael/Lucifer and Satan is also a late development. As emissaries of Divine Will, they stress God's transcendence and how far removed we are from our Creator. The notion of 'guardian angels' was something Greco-Romans (with their daemon) would have liked too.

The Bible says that God is so pure that if we were to look upon him we would die instantly. This world is so full of sin that he can't come here, so he sends Angels where needed. It really goes a lot deeper than this. But I hope this tidbit helps.

In Christian, Jewish, and Muslim mythos...angels are being who were created before humans. They are Gods messengers and the protectors of humans. God doesn't "need" them, any more than God "needs" human beings...God created them because that was what He wished to do, and, having created them, he gave them free will and tasks to perform, just as he does humans.

Allah did not need the help of any creature including ghosts, angels and saviors. He is sustainer and cherisher of this universe. He created angels for praising his Lordship.

God's sole purpose of creating angels is to do his bidding. They do not have lust, don't eat or drink, don't sleep and do not have desire what human desires.
God doesn't need help from anybody, since he had created them for that purpose, why not use them.
