punishment is meant to teach us?

we get put in timeout for doing something wrong, so we learn not to do it in the future... so then whats the point in punishing us if we dont get a chance to change in the future? wouldnt this be for the sheer joy of it rather then trying to teach us a lesson?

I always thought that naming someone to be godparent of your child was a Catholic tradition.

What do you think about just "picking" godparents? I know alot of people that have done this that aren't catholic, or even religious, necessarily. Some enlightenment, please?

Hello! Got a few questions I'd like to ask for clarification purposes.
BTW! I'm not saying I'm a Creationist or an Evolutionist by asking these, mmkay? No drama please!

Well...

1.) Why didn't the original cells evolve into one super-species? How did the seperation happen?

2.) How did species evolve (into seperate species) if it is impossible to inter-breed between species?

3.) Where have all the bones of the hominids gone? Isn't there a bit more evidence? I also noticed that the hominids found do look like human and ape bones combined...heard there is some controversy over this...Thoughts?

4.) What is the one most solid piece of evidence for this theory? Micro-evolution does NOT count :D

Thanks! I really wanted to know after a class I had.

I mean if I am going to the big party in hell, then why not ensure that God does not make a mistake and bring me to heaven where all the boring, dull, missionary position, no pre-marital sex people are. Since the devil hates God, and God is all for no pre-marital sex, no mass orgies, no excessive drinking, no to this and no to that, then the devil seems like the one I want to spend eternity with. And since God would want the devil to torture people for eternity, I would hedge my bet that the devil will not do God's bidding either.

Staying closed in our limitations? Judging everything by our ungrowing faith? Or believing for inheritance of faith only? Not to nourish our mind as we do with our bodies?

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. Despite having negative publicity, so many people are converting. Note one thing. Most of the converts are from the Western world. Now why would these people convert by force? You cannot convert someone by force today. These are educated civilised people who converted. Why do you suppose it is the way it is? Again please I expect educated answers. No offensive or insulting answers. Think rationally. I was reading an article of an American model who converted. She had everything fame, money. That model was even ready to adopt an Islamic dress. Now what would you say to that? I am not joking. Please think about this guys and answers

I think I remember reading in the New Testament somewhere that angels will be judged according to how good of a job they have done being our guardians. I've been searching for it for years and can't find it. Does anybody know of such verse?

I know that it is a secret organization, so it is hard to learn much, but what am I allowed to know? My boyfriend is becoming a Mason and I like to take an interest in what he is doing in his life as much as I can.
I do know about the conspiracy theories, and I suppose you can post them if you like, but what I'm looking for is some unbiased info. What can I expect if my boyfriend becomes a mason? Will things in our lives change? Is there anything I should know about his organization? I'm just curious.

I keep hearing from the right wing that our country was founded on their faith and beliefs and our country should be a Christian Government based on documents that refer to God. "In God We Trust", "One Nation Under God" etc. etc. are the most common quotes in their reasoning. Can any one of you show me one single document or statement that mentions Jesus or Christ or Son of God??????? God is NOT your religion, it's every religion. Christianity is just one of millions of religions. Why should you think God refers to you and you should control the government?
