I keep hearing from the right wing that our country was founded on their faith and beliefs and our country should be a Christian Government based on documents that refer to God. "In God We Trust", "One Nation Under God" etc. etc. are the most common quotes in their reasoning. Can any one of you show me one single document or statement that mentions Jesus or Christ or Son of God??????? God is NOT your religion, it's every religion. Christianity is just one of millions of religions. Why should you think God refers to you and you should control the government?

You actually stated the case of most Christians. Since God belongs to all religions, how is mentioning God in violation of separation of Church and State? The State is not supposed to endorse or impose one religion. God does not imply only Christianity to everyone that hears or sees the word, only to the troublemakers.

May God Bless you.

Seperation of Church and State was intended to protect the Church from the government, not the other way around. Oh, and it's not about religion. It's about a true, sincere relationship with Jesus.

Mayflower Compact:

"...having undertaken for the glory of God and for the advancement of the Christian faith."

Thomas Jefferson:

"I hold these teaching of Jesus as delivered by himself, to be the m ost pure, benevolent and sublime which have ever been preached to man."

George Washington:

"It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."

Abraham Lincoln:

"The Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man."

Virginia Bill of Rights, 1776:

"Religion, or the duty which we owe our Creator... can be directed only by reason... and that it is the mutual duty of all to practice Christian forbearance, love, and charity towards each other."

Maine's Preamble, 1820:

"We the people of Maine, acknowledging with grateful hearts the goodness of the Sovereign Ruler of the Universe in affording us an opportunity and imploring its aid and direction."

William Penn (founder of Penn-State U):

"Those people who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants."

Charles Dickens:

"The New Testament is the best book the world has ever known or will know."

Alexander Hamilton:

"I have carefully examined the evidences of the Christian religion, and if I was sitting as a juror upon its authenticity I would unhesitantly give my verdict in its favor. I can prove its truth as clearly as any proposition ever submitted to the mind of man."

John Adams:

"This nation was founded on the general principles of Christianity."

52 of the 55 framers of the Constitution were Bible-based Christians.

106 of the nation's first 108 universities were based first and foremost of the teachings of Jesus Christ.

We know this because of their other writings. Thomas Jefferson often wrote of the GOd of Abraham, Isaac , and Jacob. James Madison also spoke of the God of Jesus Christ. We know because these men were Christians, not because of these documents. They wrote of what they and 99% of the people of that time believed. The God we are talking about is for everyone in the world. People who cannot handle his rules change him because they are to weak to live strong. The God of Islam is the same God as Christians. They chose to follow The path through Ishmael instead of the promise through Isaac.

Christianity is not a religion. The one true religion (Judaism) has been fulfilled by the work of Christ. Religion is a lie and a deception; people hear religion and automatically associate it with God and vice' verse'. God is alive and radical and He will not be found in any religion. I will not be drawn into a political argument, I just thought you needed a definition of religion.
Religion is man made. Christianity is God made. Religion is mans way to God. Christianity is Gods way to (have fellowship/personal relationship with, and to dwell within His creation) man(kind).

Patrick Henry - An American Patriot: He is known for his saying "Give me liberty or give me death." He also said "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often, that this great nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians, not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ."

Supreme Court ‑ 1811, People vs Ruggles: There was a man who made attacks on Jesus in such a blasphemous way that it made it to the Supreme Court and the court ruled: "Whatever strikes at the root of Christianity tends manifestly to the dissolution of civil government."

Here's some background information as well:

Men Most Quoted by The Founding Fathers of The U.S.: Political Science professors at the University of Houston wondered if there was something unique about the government of the U.S. They gathered 15,000 quotes from the Founders and located where all of them came from. They then boiled that down to 3,154 quotes that had significant impact on the founding of America. It took them 10 years to finish the project, but they found that the three men most quoted by the Founding fathers were Blackstone, Montesquieu, and John Locke.

They also found that the Bible was quoted:

4 times more often than Montesquieu,

12 times more often than Blackstone, and

16 times more often than Locke.

Additionally, 34% of all quotes were from the Bible, and another 60% of the quotes were from men who were using the Bible to arrive at their conclusions. Added together, 94% of all the quotes of the Founders had their origin in the Bible, which shows the importance of God's word in their lives and of this Nation's founding.

The concept of religious freedom was promoted by Roger Williams (RI) and William Penn, both for profoundly religious reasons. There is no doubt that the nation (and the evengelicals) worship some other mighty one. They certainly do not honor the creator YHVH or the Savior YAHOSHUA!

I'm not right-wing. I'm not even American. But I love your seperation of Church and State (even to the point of not going on about it being an Englishman's idea!).

You were the first country to regard the State as an association, not as a tribal concept, and to organise it in such a way that everyman and woman could follow their own conscience. For (insert diety's name here) don't throw that away!

seeing that I can't show you what you seek,
should I then bow to your superior knowledge of all things spiritual and eternal?
and all this time, I thought God created the universe and created YOU and that He was the one with the vast knowledge of all things spiritual and eternal.
oh, before I give up on my belief in God totally, what are your qualifications again?
