I know that it is a secret organization, so it is hard to learn much, but what am I allowed to know? My boyfriend is becoming a Mason and I like to take an interest in what he is doing in his life as much as I can.
I do know about the conspiracy theories, and I suppose you can post them if you like, but what I'm looking for is some unbiased info. What can I expect if my boyfriend becomes a mason? Will things in our lives change? Is there anything I should know about his organization? I'm just curious.

Beware of people answering these questions who are not Masons. They are simply regurgitating silly things that they have heard or read on the internet.

Your boyfriend is joining a great orgainzation. We strive to improve ourselves and make our communities a better place. We do not worship Satan, and in fact, we do not discuss religion in our meetings at all.

What you can expect if your boyfriend becomes a Mason will depend on how much he puts into it. Meetings are once a month, and if he simply does that, he will most likely meet a group of new friends at first. If he decides to become an officer in the lodge, there might be a bit more of a time requirement, probably more like 3 nights a month. If he does this, it is quite possible that he will make closer friends in the lodge, and that might affect your lives as you might do more activities with those families.

I have been a mason for many years, and have made some great friends and learned a lot about myself. I have also improved in management skills and public speaking as a result of my work in the lodge, and also get a great sense of accomplishment when working with charities.

Your life will not change greatly. His may, but only for the better. Just remember that this is a fraternity, a brotherhood of men who truly care about helping others and doing good work.

Please do not hesitate to email me with any further questions, and please ignore these other idiots who make false claims about our group.

It isn't a religious organization, it isn't involved in all those conspiracies, it is a fraternity and most of the bad press was born of the suspicions of the old Church because the Masons was secretive and didn't allow the Church to influence it. You lives will not change, it is no different then if he joined a video-game club or something else. The Masons have a website and while there are parts of their organization that they want to keep secret, there have been enough Masons that leaked, that most of the secret initiation appears somewhere on the internet.

Jan it sad how wrong to are about Masons. first off the idea that there are even higher degrees in masonry is wrong. The degrees with higher numbers are part of a different group that requires you to be a a mason to join

Ask to go to a meeting. You can go to some of them, you know. You could also try talking to some of the people in the Mason group your boyfriend is joining. They'd probably be very happy you're showing interest in it. There are very few young people interested in groups like that, and the Mason would be happy that you're more interested in getting factual information than conspiracy theories.

I know they come off as a group of good citizens who quite often give money and help to people in need. Under that guise, they are about as satanic as you can get.
The ones who join often don't know this; they really think its just a great group to get in with, and there are lots of benefits, like you could get a promotion at work, etc. I know people at a big pharmaceuticl company, and you didn't get any promotion unless you were a mason.
They like to climb into any seat of power, even if just on the community level, and they yield power from there. The lesser or new degree of mason wouldn't even know until he was way high up in the ranks, there are top levels where they do satanic rituals, and follow the doctrine of Satan, where they say that only the elect know of the deeper secrets - they mean satans negative elect army, not talking of the election of God. The reason I understand of the seriousness of this particular organization, is because they follow the exact Biblical doctrines as if it was Christs elect, but actually what they are doing is copying the election of God, and applying it as if it were their own doctrine.
The spiritual war between Christ and Satan is very much "on" today; and just as Christ has His set aside ones, so does satan.
All this is not to say that your boyfriend is a satan-worshipper; what i am saying is that if he should continue faithfully within that group, until he reached a certain "degree", then they would tell him - and he would be then what they call "enlightened".
If I were you, I'd wish he wouldn't join.

It's not that secret. There's lots of information out there about the Free Masons. I know many and they are just basically men.

Do your own research and you will find the answers you seek.

Anyone can join the masonic order if your are a like minded individual. Look, supposedly at the very top of the freemasons there is a lot of power in the world, but who the hell knows, certainly your boyfriend never will.
