If God has no need to lie (see link)

why does the universe look like it is about 14 billiion years old and the earth look like it is about 4.5 billion years old? Why would God create a universe that from human observation, appears to be much older than what is indicated in the bible?

What I'm saying here is my theory. That I believe we are already dead and we're just watching ourselves as if we are watching a movie in a theater but we get to actually feel it also. How did I come up with this theory? To put it simply, death is 100% fact right? So since time doesn't really exist other then what we perceive so anything and everything 100% has already happened. I know this sounds confusing and creepy but I will be writing a book someday explaining this in more details. I hope you will remember this question then. Anyway do you believe me or are u in denial?

Atheism is to religion as Conservatism is to Liberalism.

I know this sounds odd and I don't necessarily believe it in it's pure form but consider this:

Atheism limits their belief to that which is proven of Science. (conservitive)

Theist choose to belive that which is not yet proven of men but which is confirmed of the Spirit. (Liberal)

If this is true then why does it seem that in practice, most atheist are liberals based in a conservitive belief system and most Theist are consrtvitives based in a liberal belief set?

Often in practice they are at the exteem end of the views that are of opposet polarity to their beleif system?

Follow on:

These are some really interesting answers! Thanks, As I stated I do not necessarily believe this but wondered id it was a good analogy. I guess my difficulty with atheism is that it is not definable as it is a disbelief having no paramiters other than denial of God. At least that is what Webster says. Is there more?

I'm trying really hard to respect the minds of you christians but you're making it Really hard for me.

Test your superb powers of observation and see if there is a contradiction on what jesus said/did right before his "Death"

LUKE:
Luk 23:46 Jesus shouted, "Father, I put myself in your hands!" Then he died.

MARK:
Mar 15:34 Then about that time Jesus shouted, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?" which means, "My God, my God, why have you deserted me?"

Matthew:
Mat 27:46 Then about that time Jesus shouted, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" which means, "My God, my God, why have you deserted me?"

JOHN:
Joh 19:30 After Jesus drank the wine, he said, "Everything is done!" He bowed his head and died.

and one more thing; Aren't Jews saying that we are all the sons of God and his children? then explain this:

Joh 19:7 The crowd replied, "He claimed to be the Son of God! Our Jewish Law says that he must be put to death."

I mean, you believe in the Holy Spirit, right? Can't you know God through the Holy Spirit? And if you know God, why do you need a book? Wouldn't you know everything you need to know? Wouldn't it be like taking Algebra AB when you're a whiz at the highest math already?

I often walk by a homeless man on my way to work who claims he talks to god. He often has these conversations out loud. My question is, is he the next mesiah or is he just crazy?

I heard an evolutionist say that evolution applies ONLY to LIFE. It does not describe even how life started, let alone anything before that.

So then WHAT describes how life started? Don't you people wonder about that? How do you know what your identity on earth is???

I serve alot with my church, specifically with the kids programs. I do the music time for the kids and I really like to teach them the praise/worship songs that we all know. Not just the overly sung "Jesus Loves Me". I'm interested in finding a place that I can get a lot of the lyrics for my songs. If you could help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

The God of the Old Testament seemed really moody. He got mad at people and killed them, he ordered certain groups to kill other groups or take them as slaves, including children, he made bets with the devil about Job's faith, he seemed like he really had human emotions (like the Greek Gods)

Then you have the New Testament God who loved the world so much he sent his son who was him in human form to suffer and die for all. This new God told people to turn the other cheek, to not be violent, to love your neighbor.

If these Gods weren't grouped together in the bible there's no way I'd think they had anything to do with each other.

Can anyone explain this to me? I honestly want to know.

I mean, if you choose not to accept what he is offering is that ok. Or should you find another preacher whos truth is easier to swallow?

Better still, can you worship on your own at home.
